Wifi seems to be adequate but what I don't like is that the YouTube, Opera & other net apps insists on using your 3G connection unlike the W995. Haven't tested the RSS feeds yet, hope that's an exception

Of course you can use all these apps with wifi. You have to setup every app to work in loca mode. My phone is in Greek and i dont know how to tell you in english.
Does anybody know how to share internet connection over wifi with laptop or ipad? I think is some a setup at ad hoc menu. I manage to connect laptop with elm but not the internet.

Isn't amazing how different people perceive different things, like for example memory. I think I have seen some review mentioning that they thought it (Elm, perhaps Hazel) had small memory. Yes, compared to 512 MB or 8 GB, but compared to the mainstream phone it is quite good. That's one reason why I find reviews becoming less important, compared to let's say first hand experience from a user. Some would say the problem with user reports is that you don't know anything about their skills and other phones they have used. But given the many odd comments that I find in some reviews, and they are supposed to be using all kinds of phones daily, it seems really odd to complain about this size of memory in a standard phone such as the Elm. What's next? It hasn't got wheels; you can't eat it in an emergency situation.

Bonovox,
I asked a question about signal (reception) quality regarding Hazel and Elm in the Hazel - A good phone? thread. Initially Hans replied that it had been fixed in a firmware, but since I have seen some more reports about this, and since there are some Elm/Hazel owners around here, I asked the question again. But no one seems interested in commenting.

I've just transferred all my contacts, configuration the works from the T700 to the Elm. Since it's going to be my primary workphone I'll surely notice if the issue Bonovox experienced is present in this phone. Sorry wasn't able to respond earlier, wanted to wait a day at least to see if connectivity problems reared its ugly head.

Aigais - thanks for the tip

Finally purchased my Black SE Elm today and I can say its design is simple yet stunning and the feel is excellent. I did encounter that same problem with the blue and orange lines appearing when increasing EV which I guess still has no fix YET.

My other problem is when connecting to my Linksys router via Wi-Fi (WRT54G with WEP security enabled), it immediately restarts the router thus I am not able to surf the net. Are there any other people currenty experiencing this problem? And is there a fix to this? I have tried this on 2 routers already (both linksys with WEP) and it shows the same problem.

EDIT: The problem lies with the two routers, I just had to update the firmware and it runs real smooth. Too bad for the small screen.

Other than this, all is great with my Elm. Thanks.

Hm, isn't the screen on the phone very hard to see from left side?
Right hand, tilt it just a little bit, satans fastport connector almost pointed at you.
thats just pity, right side isnt like that.

I used the Elm to make a voice call during a cab ride and timed it so it was while travelling through an area where I knew the signals were weak. The voice of the person I was talking to became a bit choppy but it was still understandable. Before & after crossing that spot no problems - have you tried avoiding 3G and sticking to plain GSM/GPRS ? Sometimes two strong 3G signals can cause the phone to bounce back & forth, this also happens when the GSM signal is strong but 3G signal is weaker.

Two weeks ago, both my SE phones started losing their hold on the cell signals but this cleared up after a while - I suspect this was a problem on the part of the mobile service provider.

I have an update on the Elm signal connectivity issues - the voice of the person I was talking to dropped to very low levels during a conversation. As I suspected, locking it to a GSM signal fixed the problem - there are a lot of people in this building with 3G phones.

Next time I'll try locking it to 3G just to see what happens.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere else, but I'm really missing the bluetooth remote control feature. I thought all SE phones had this, although I've only ever had a k750 and k850. Are there any decent replacements that don't require a server running on the pc?

Try going to the Messaging window then if you see the inbox tab, enter it. Once you're in, you can choose to read the messages in the traditional inbox (default) or you can or switch to the conversations tab by pressing right. It's either the inbox or conversations, only one or the other. I prefer conversations since I write and receive lengthy messages which makes it easier to go back to the message I'm going to reply to. Hope this helps.

My Elm gets the same, if not better signal that my K530 gets. Have you tried using GSM only in your Mobile Networks under the Connectivity tab? Try switching between GSM only and GSM/3G and see if there's a difference.

The signal problem is the same on 3G & GSM. I live in high very strong coverage on every network in my area. Previous phones all have strong signal that barely fluctuates even downstairs but the Elm is terrible everywhere. It's the worst signal I ever had & it is alot to do with the antenna being in the bottom of the phone & perhaps firmware will fix this but who knows. I have used a Nokia phone since & the signal is solid everywhere even on T Mobile downstairs in my house so it is the Elm it's the main bad point of this phone & from experience it does affect call quality depending on which network you use. The GSM call quality on Vodafone or O2 being worse

That is weird indeed. Have you tried using the same simcard on a different phone in specific areas of your house right now?
