Hehe.. Didn't you pull a stunt like that on me before, Pachy, trying to heat up the discussion? ;)

Well, I may not be riding on a moral high horse, but I definitely do not wallow in the mud like worms by calling people names.

WAP 1.1, IR, etc etc were credited to Nokia, yes, but like I said, in the last decade. OK, so they released the cam and the video cam first, but SE would have beaten to them, since they announced the P800 before Nokia did the 7650. What we are really talking about here is this: at this stage, you are undeniably defending Nokia against SE fans by saying they still innovate, but looking at the list of innovators recently, Nokia takes only their small little share of the honours, and that puts them on equal ground with the other brands, if not actually lower than Siemens and SE. How do they maintain their high level of sales? Not by technological supremacy, but by cosmetic gimmicks and marketing. This you can't deny.

This has been brought around the moon and back, and the facts are here for you to see.

@brick, lol.. I haven't endulged in name-calling(just yet;)), that was just Pachy's sence of humour. It does NOT matter when a company announce a product, actual release is what matters, so that's a poor argument. I do however agree that Nokia seems to be aiming more and more towards the youth market, leaving fewer options for the business/high-end users. Which I think is a shame, but hey, that's marketing. It is a business after all.

Don't worry, don't we know pachy well enough . Glad you see what I'm talking about. It's a shame about Nokia really, because looking at the revenue they are making, they would be in a hell of a position to push technology further. Instead, it's up to lab rats like SE and Siemens to test the market before Nokia adopts their technology and brings it to the masses. MMS, colour screen, bluetooth, you know.

@brick, Yeah, holding back on technology is unfortunatly common practice. I think both companies have their pros and cons, if Nokia wasn't so big and SE wasn't strugeling, SE probably wouldn't go through all the hassle of developing those all-in-one devices either, so we should just be happy there is all this competition in this industry! =) And I'm happy I got the best 'phone' on the market!

as far as I know, Nokia didn't have any model made in malaysia. It is either made in europe or in China.

BTW changable cover from Nokia was an upgrade from all the changable face plate of those old GA528?? (E/// brick)

T9 although not an invention of Nokia, but they are one of the first who bought the license and put it into their phone.

The last innovation from Nokia I realised is not 7650 keypad design (that was same as the one in Siemens old 4 colour phone) It was Nokia communicator series.

Nokia and SE have its fair share when it comes to these innovations in design and features and we the end user benefited from these. However who comes first doesnt mean is the winner in the long run since there is the other who is going to innovate that \"first feature\" many folds. It is a non stop cycle. WHAT ABOUT PATENTS?PATENTED DESIGN OR TECHNOLOGY.who is leading who?NOKIA OR ERICSSON/SE?

After holding a 8210 for about 2 years, t68i is my 2nd long ownership regarding mob phones. Bought it in late May 2002 and I'm glad I did it 'cause it's a damm good phone!
Switched to 'cause a 8310 I had f***ed up my SIMcard when I was copying the contacts to the memory... I was a Nokia fan (shame on me! ) and from then on, I've been cursing Nokia for all time being!

Still considered switching to Siemens, but no coloured phones were available at that time, so got myself this beauty and am I glad with!

P800 is the only option I'm considering now, but still dunno if I need one

Well, actually I was talking about the real technologies, not exchangable covers and so on. And also I wasn't talking about who got it first, but what they have now.

What Nokia have, SE don't:
- E-commerce, ie. wallet like technology
- Sophisticated Digital Rights Management
- Sophisticated content download
- Camcorder, ie. video recording

What SE have, Nokia don't:
- EMS, on the other hand Nokia have Smart Messaging

At least these came into my mind.

having just moved from the nokia 8310 to the t68i theres some observations i'd like to make.

Now i miss the radio, yes "carry a seperate one", "cheap gimmick", etc. well aren't you all well healed tech heads, listening to the radio was another perfect way to pass the time like snakes was. The reason nokia has such a large market is because they make products that suit the larger demographic. This forum is full of tech heads, IT managers, power users, like myself who get the most out of a phone, who love bluetooth.

Knocking nokia for making mass market phones is just childish. whats the point of having all those toys if you never play with them. the majority of people posting here use those toys. My friends barely use everything on there nokias so what the hell do they want BT or even a voice recorded for? i try to educate them, but they'll never want such features, they'll eventually get to grips with mms cos it'll work, but they've never used wap. The fact is thou, they buy logo's and ringtones to refresh the look of there phone and cheap overpriced bits of plastic once the covers worn or dated looking, hence more money for the operators, so they'll push nokias more to there customers...

Since my t68i nice and new it's not something i miss getting a new cover, but i've had to re-organise my pockets so my phone won't get too worn, its a consideration i don't like to make. it's repeated with the joystick, how long do they last?

Also my nokia did fcuk up but the service centre fixed it for free (nice) but couldn't be arsed to save my numbers thou(not so nice).

I had a t68 for 14 months, the joystick counter had 750,000 moves recorded on it, so don`t worry to much,.......if you think we are childish then SHUTUP MONKEY PLOP FACE !
