Unfortunately, it is true, all O2 customers, wether new or upgrading, will now no longer be able to stay on 12 months. Even if you're on an old 12 month tariff, apparently you have to move to a new 18 month contract.
Thats bullocks, you can't refuse to upgrade to someone onto another 12 months contract!
and you can't force them onto 18 month plans, if this is o2 follow p4u sales tactics, i'll be leaving o2 after 7 years.

@ Daedalus85:
OK! After jiggling with them for a couple of days O2 offered me a 12months contract for £35 1200Mins+500txts with W980i free but what I asked them to give me free weekends along with that which they simply refused it, instead they offered me a 18months 1400mins+500txts and free weekends for £30 a month with free handset W980i.
Now how does this sound?
But to add one more thing they are not doing 12months contracts anymore, and why they offer me this 12months contract was a mistake made by one of their colleague (or you can say a promise by mistake) when i first contacted them and it had to be authorized by a manager and thats how it went.
But their customer service is a total crape and I am very disappointed the way everything went in the process of upgrade.

Thats ok. I top up around £30 to £40 per month. But O2 pay and go is the best value pre pay tariff out there. For £10 per month you get 500 mins for £15 per month you get 1,000 mins or for £30 per month top up you get unlimited calls from your favourite place(not just your house its postcode area)to landlines and O2 mobiles. Or you can have unlimited texts for same top ups. Plus you get 10% of tops up back every 3 months plus an extra treat each month like extra free calls texts internet browsing or money off price of calls. So its good value. I had contracts years ago and found them too expensive and always ended up with huge bills. Orange is the worst value pre pay. |

Orange still has 12 month contracts. Anyone can have one. New or existing!

I have a question.
I'm on O2 and have the K850. I bought it 10 months ago on Online 30. £30 a month, 400 minutes and 100 texts. I have sent the phone back twice for repair. Last month i decided to downgrade to Online 25. If my phone breaks again, will I be able to choose another phone? If so, what choices will I have? |

In my opinion you should get one. I did years back with Vodafone. The goods they were providing me were not fit for purpose and were sent back 5 times so they let me have a new model. Not sure if they would do it for you its not always the case networks rarely let you do that. BUT if under contract law at the end of the day if they are not providing satisfactory goods under contract laws then they should replace it. Repair is just not good enough. Good luck. |

If you have had 4 faulty k850i's including the original one they will offer you an alternative handsets probably the c902 but it will be a handset of similar spec. they are not obliged to offer you an alternative handset since under the s.e warranty they are obliged to keep replacing faulty handsets with the same model under the warranty period. but o2 allows you to switch model after having 4 handsets which are faulty of the same model. which is a good thing they allow. don't think any other network allows that.

Ok, the free unlimited packages are always only available on 18-month, that part of it is a strict policy at least.
And yes, I don't think we should have gotten rid of 12-months for upgrading customers. New customers it seems totally fair (because I think like 3% of the one we sold were 12-month).
But that deal seems pretty good for both of them.
That 12-month deal would cost you £50/month, and the 18-month would be a similar figure, so you're getting a decent discount.
As for their CS, we're one of the ONLY networks left with solely UK call centres. You think we're bad? By all means, go try Orange or Three, you'll be back within the week |

Why does O2 not do £5 top ups i find it so annoying that only O2 and 3UK dont do £5 minimum. ITS GREEDINESS. Will they ever do it i wonder. Its annoying cos if you dont have much with you and you need to top up but the value is too high. |

Bonovox, sometimes I question why you have a mobile phone. Either that or you're actually the reincarnation of Victor Meldrew
No offence, but you always manage to find somethinig wrong with everything O2 do, and how it's outrageous and blasphemy etc. We can't be THAT bad, can we? Surely there's bigger and better things in life to be concerned about? |

I hate to say this, but I'm seriously disliking my iPhone. I'm getting tired of having to restore it at least twice a week, and I'm not willing to exchange it again (this is my third one).
Obviously, I'm stuck in the 18 month contract with O2, which I don't mind too much, but I want to switch to another phone. As far as I know, the iPhone tariff can't be used with another phone, so would O2 let me change my tariff?
Ideally, I'd like to keep my number and use a different phone with a similar (same price) tariff. Possible?

Daedalus i am a very happy person and love having my mobile but i only ask questions and i have moaned about certain things with O2 because THEY HAVE NOT BEEN UPTO A GREAT STANDARD LATELY. I cant say what i wish if i dont like something and i just thought it would be nice to be able to top up £5 instead of always £10. Thats all. I have left O2 because they are by far the best value pre pay of any network. I had a right to complain recently when i had internet problems day in day out and NEVER getting a connection. I had a right to complain when email never worked everyday. If you dont like me moaning about YOUR network DONT ANSWER TO IT. I give up sometimes. |
