haha, I like it, we are finding solutions to go over the "4" bug, instead of SE fixing that one and offer it on the SEUS. Seriously though, I believe they will do that...
Until than, thanx for the # and shutter tip, guys. |

I'm also from sweden with a WG1 phone and my update from SEUS went just fine. The phone is noticably faster and the autofokus on the camera is waaaaay faster than before. The refreshrate of the preview in camera mode is also alot faster.
Overall I really like the new firmware...
No problem using WiFi either. WPA-Personal works just fine.

My findings with R9K009 - R6G04 as follows:
Backing up phone to pc using se backup manager (via usb) is now completing successfully. I haven't tried restore yet.
Bluetooth connection to my notebook (lenovo t61p running vista 64bit) now works (i.e., I can initiate pc suite connection to the phone and sync ok). Bluetooth version hasn't changed so I'm assuming the p1i now works properly with bluetooth implementation.
Synching emails from outlook 2007 is working so far (the previous versions of firmware removed the date & time info from synced emails in outlook) |

Just updated. Everything feels noticeably faster and feels much, much, more stable. The 4 bug is minor enough for me to overlook, considering how much I hated the previous firmware. The phone honestly feels like IT SHOULD have upon release. SE needs to do a better job of testing before they release a product onto the market.
The camera update on the autofocus was way overdue. The other day my friend used it to take a picture, and I was actually how embarassed by it. Now, it's actually decent.
I'm glad they at least finally released the new firmware... |

How is the messaging application? Still slow? Any decrease in boot time? I'm glad they fixed the camera refresh and overall GUI speed as you reported. Keep posting your experiences |

who here agrees that when you start up your phone, it starts up much faster than it used to?
I mean before, u would start the phone, go get a cup of coffee, come back, and the phone still loading. (Well, you guys know im over doing it but ya get the point)
I think the speed has improved greatly, agree?

i noticed the same thing today but wasn't sure if it was just my wishful thinking. It does indeed seem to load faster. When i turn my phone on within a 3-5 secs. the bar is already at the halfway point. |

I actually can't comment on the loading time... because I did go get a coffee usually when I turned on my phone! The boot time, from reading other sources, say the boot time is now 45 seconds.

Just updated to R6G04/R9K009. No different to R6F41/R9J005 as far as I can tell; certainly not any quicker at anything. Wifi access to Web pages still doesn't work, though POP3 email over Wifi continues to work ok. This is a big slap in the face for me, as Wifi was my principal reason for buying this phone.
I'm now of the opinion that the Wifi thing isn't a bug - it's a feature designed to keep the mobile operators happy. I find it very strange that web browsing works ok so long as I have WLAN (priority 1) and GPRS (priority 2) accounts in my Internet connection group, but doesn't work if I have a WLAN account alone. It's no surprise to discover that the web traffic is mostly going over GPRS. The puzzling thing is that my internet email (pop3 or imap) works ok over WLAN alone - I don't have to have a GPRS account in the connection group to get that working.
If anyone (particularly at SE) is interested, I have an Ethereal trace of one of my attempted Wifi web browser sessions. The trace clearly shows a DNS enquiry and a three way TCP handshake with the web server (SYN, SYN-ACK, ACK) all going over the wireless LAN, but then the Opera browser refuses to send a HTML request over WLAN to the web server - it just sits there, saying 'connecting'. Eventually the web server gets tired of waiting and sends a 408 (request timeout) error, which Opera receives and displays.
If I repeat the experiment with a GPRS account in the connection group (WLAN priority 1, GPRS priority 2), the browser displays the target web page ok, but the HTML traffic doesn't traverse the wireless LAN (no sign of it in the Ethereal trace). A quick look at the GPRS connection log tells me that the web traffic is going via T-Mobile (my mobile operator). A con? I think so.
I'm glad that I kept my P900, because the P1 is going on eBay whilst it still looks new.
Not happy.

A tip for anyone having problems synching their newly updated phone to thier pc: get the new version of the pc suite, fully uninstall the old version first - inc. emptying any folders relating to it in your program files directory.
My heart sank at first as I thought it might not be that simple - bad flash etc..but luckily my first guess was correct |
