Currently OTB 1.1.2 UK iphones cannot be unlocked with Anysim or Other Software solutions due Bootloader 4.6 I used the hackintosh forum thread to jailbreak the iphone.

Ive currently got a us iphone with the original fimware and thinking of getting a UK o2 iphone.

Im with o2 payg at the minute..do i just need to jailbreak it to bypass the activation and then pop in my payg o2 sim?

also with future updates ..is it just a matter of downloading the update and never need activating again?

thanks

Even if you jailbreak and activate the phone there is still one more step required and if you are comfortable using WINSCP then you will need copy over a hacked file to the Lockdown portion. However I cannot guarantee it will work best to search the Hackintosh forum for confirmation.

Am I missing something, but isnt the sensible thing to do wait until this over hyped toy goes on sale in France in its truely unlocked state?
My better half has for some reason decided it looks just the kiddy for her but I aint being conned into paying £800 for it in year one!!!!!! I am going to France on 15th December anyway so will buy one SIM free there.

I hope your French is up to scratch if this is your plan.... All iphones sold in France will only have French menus and NO option to change language.

Good luck!

dont believe what you read, it's not as straight forward as going to France and buying the phone at standard price unlocked ready for use, if it were that simple then all phones sold in France would be unlocked for any network...but they're not, so do your homework first instead of believing a few inaccurate headlines.

You are wronger than wrong. You can go to France and by an iPhone unlocked. The problem is finding one. They are selling faster than the locked ones. Moral of story. Stop talking crap when you do not know.

Actually I have a misleading and crap posting problem. What he wrote was not hard to prove wrong. A simple phone call to Orange was all it took to know that he was incorrect. You are cordially invited to prove me wrong.

There is no difference between a locked and unlocked iPhone at the store, they only sell one version. What they do if you wish to purchase an unlocked one is take the IMEI number of the phone and send it to Apple, then around 24 hours later you activate it via iTunes, iTunes detects that that IMEI number is to be unlocked and unlocks it. I know this as my best mate has just been to France and done it.
