Given the number of apps, plus the small usage I would say that it is highly unlikely that the speedup is because of a fresh install.
The UI is definitely much more responsive under this new firmware, I can't really put my finger on it the whole thing just seems to have much more snap to it.
Under e30 I never bothered with the transitions, they just slowed everything down. Now even with the transitions on the whole thing responds straight away, it seems they have done something to the underlying graphics handling. |

seemed the same way with p990i. people reported faster UI, faster load. until you started using it regularly, then when you see the real world result. there are no such thing as "video drivers" or hardware tweak unless you overclock the chips. |

sorry to burst your bubble, but i just tested, and the P1 is now indeed faster with transitions on, faster that my old P990 was with the same transitions on (that i gave up using)
it seems now one can use transitions on on the P1

it seems faster you dorks because its a fresh install. lol give it a weeks time and you'll be back on the same pedestal
You are wrong. The speed increase is very noticable, compared to a fresh-booted P1 pre-update. The menus are much faster and for instance messages open faster.

Nonsense. We are not talking about overclocking or anything of the sort. There will be a graphics layer to the OS which will specific to the hardware being used. The OS will consist of API calls to draw shapes and colours on screen in specific locations, this will be a standard interface - same as on your desktop PC. If this was not the case then symbian inself would have to be recoded for each hardware platform it ran on - which it isn't. What SE have done is improve the graphics rendering, in a part of the firmware that would be a "driver" in a conventional PC. Most likely explanation is that they have either made better use of the OpenGL hardware acceleration on the device or they have reworked the actual software interface with this hardware.
There is no doubt about it, screen refreshing is faster than it was before the update. |
