with 25.000 unique vistors each day there must be some company/companies that are interested in some sort of sponsorship... here they can reach out to mobile phone users all over the world... the question is... what companies? |

You could also try to delete old topics... Or make a max. for replies on a topic... so after 250 replies on a topic, you are not able to reply on that topic.... so a new topic (about the same topic) must be opened.
The topic with more than 250 replies you can delete after a month... Look at the size of the Pinoy Chit Chat... or all the others... Saves you a lot of space... You can keep the most important topics though.

there are over 10000+ mebers here laffen said it costs about 45$ a week. thats 1395$ a month add 105$ extra costs to make an even number so it costs 1500$. if we splid that in to 20 (for 20$) only 75 mebers could pay and esato could run for one month more. i think if everybody pays a small amount of money every month esato can stay alive. i'm only 17 and i hate that i'm not allowed to donate from my parents but when get 18 thats on 17mai i'm donating all the money that i've saved for esato so that will be some 100$ after that i'll donate every month.
esato has given us so much, help, service, answers, revieuws, first pics of T68i, logo, themes, screensavers and alot of new friends. its time that we give something back to esato. it's my favorite website and i would not feel bad about giving some of my allowence to esato.

I'm still convinced we should be concentrating on funding in the short term. Laffen warned of this situation a couple of months ago - its obviously not going away.
Personally, I would have thought relying on regular users and loyalty would sway it in the short term... but if an added incentive is needed to donate, how about the following:
Rather than ask SE to sponsor the site... which will take time for them to set up and investigate their likely return on investment. Why not ask SE to donate a free P800 (which everyone is up for) and which would be much easier for them to agree to. Then, anyone who donates $20+, for example, is entered into a draw to win the phone. |

I don't think writing to SE will be useful. They are in a quite bad position in the market (falling from 8-10% market share with Ericsson handsets to 4-5% market share now), and they have to spare cash and to show good bottom lines at the end of each quarter from now if they want Sony and Ericsson to remain investors.
And furthermore, it's NO USE for a short time problem like this one. Let's urgently make donations to have Esato up and running for the next 3 months, and let's search, dig, brainstorm, help, shout every day during these 3 months to find an adequate mid or long term solution.
During these months, admins have to put a HUGE red message on the Home page explaining briefly the situation with the link to donate (accepted in the philippines, as there is many members out there). The small line "RIP Esato" in the "latest post" of the home page is too small for such news !!
But before that, we have to give Laffen a short term solution with donations. Don't forget this step or we will not have the second step (where we search, dig, ...) ever.
