@Dragon Eye,
It's at times like this I'm glad your in Canada, I'm sure you most probably could but the way i use mine i honestly haven't encountered problems and as i have said i don't use Agile or push e-mail as i use polling instead which suits my needs.
I don't dispute that some that run Agile and push E-Mail may encounter these problems but then this is a known problem of Symbian 9.1 and Ram usage. I doubt you will be able to crash an E90 though with 80mb Ram, and this hopefully means that Nokia are learning and hopefully all smart phones will start shipping with more Ram or Symbian 9.2 and 9.5 stop being so Ram intensive. Some how i think it may be easier just to fit more Ram in smart phones IMO.

@ Dragon Eye,
It sure is a a beast but what a beast at that, just not sure i am going to be able to resist it. So I keep adding things to my N93 in the hope i will just bought another 2gb card Black Shure EC2 headphones and an SU-8W bluetooth keyboard which should make it hard for me to want to upgrade hopefully.

Hi Masseur and Mib 1800,
Here are 2 codes that i have generated that should definitely work, open the Bar Code app and keep it in still on the image whilst it scans. After this it will display the message and you will have the option to either save or delete. If you can't read these then there is definitely a problem with your app in the N95.
Hope it worked
Marc
Hi Marc,
I could read it with no problem with my N95!

I think you should be realistic/rational about memory. At this moment, the design is about max 48Mb ram in N-series (except N70 which have 56Mb). At boot N95 got about 22.5Mb. This is the free RAM we got to play with period. This means you cannot have 2 heavy app. Web browser is not problematic until you try to load heavy page (like one of the M-R review page). at least the browser dont crash the phone (the page just stop loading). And it just elegant tells you you dont have enough memory and you can continue.
Your argument looks to me like you are sore. You went and buy a basket of apple knowing fully it has 20 in it. When you reach home, you complain that it should have 1000 instead.
I have Agile installed on mine. I have used it with music player (and other PIMs incl. aquacalendar) and have no problem. Havent tried with web at the same time. Frankly I dont like agile. IMplus/fring looks way better.
even when the gallery tries to load all the videos and pics
You dont know there is something called an ALBUM?

Fring is way better and it's free Fring is Fringing fantastic LOL. Also was able to open the Mobile-review site with the N95 review and had 8.8mb Ram still free on my N93 pictures attached as evidence.

After reading a handfull of post by DragonEye, I come to the conclusion - if posting is longer then 3 lines - ignore -. He likes to complain (not much wrong with that) but he is biased (very much wrong with that) ! He 'bends' the truth to suit his views/wishes and I couldn't be bothered reading stuff like that Sorry Dragon, but this is the impression you've created - I hope this won't trigger you into a 'killing frenzy'. Be a bit more unbiased/fair and I will read your posts again.

Are you sure you have problem using these 3 together. I certainly have no problem at all. Only problem I have is when I use Gallery+Web together. So I am sorry that your N95 is screwed. |

Those with GPS lock problem
Firstly in Map app - in options->Settings - set "Use Network" to "never"
Follow this step.
1. Open Map.
2. Click "view"->"satelite info"
3. Leave it on until you get a lock. (usually 20-30 secs after you see 4 satellites in the list). If you dont see 4 satelites, then you may have blockage.
I follow this and now I can get a lock from cold start in total < 1min. And it is consistent. If you have already have a lock to that location previously, it takes about 10-20 sec to lock on again.
(thanks to couperb who posted in m-r forum on this tip)
Hope this helps. |

music player in the background, browsing via wifi and responding to sms messages.. i MAY but not ALWAYS...get the 1 following:
1)music hiccups, stutters, skips
2)music app closes automatically
3)webbrowser says memory full
4)webbrowser just closes automatically
again it's not unbearable just things i've noticed..
gps works perfectly fine in both units i've played with

DragonEye:
All your so-called problems are just limitation of the S60 platform and Ram. All the apps share the same processor and at 300+mhz it may not be able to service the apps if u load up huge web page (esp one with lots of images, scripts and many redirections).
What is your RAM after boot up? If you have <16mb then you have too many background apps. Mine at startup is 22Mb free (with Handy TaskMan started)
Can I suggest that you use Opera Mini for casual browsing. Then you will not encounter this. Otherwise maybe get a phone like K800+carry your laptop around.

@Mib 1800,
I can not agree about using Opera Mini as opposed to the built in Web bowser the experience is just not anywhere near the same. I have already conceded and agreed with Dragon Eye that although i have never had a crash or a freeze he could do this with my N93 with no great difficulty.
We need to accept the fact that Symbian 9.1 has taken as step back as far as it's Ram consumption and that whilst smart phones any smart phone ships with only 64mb Ram Multitasking without limit can not exist.
The advantages of Symbian 9.1 are it's speed and stability and performance and on those fronts i am more than satisfied. In my experience by using Handy Taskman i am able to have a smooth running machine that when i shut apps i recover nearly all my Ram. Only the E90 when it arrives will remedy this as it will have 128mb Ram and 80mb Ram free on boot up. Until then if you use a Task Manager and apply some maintenance on your system you really should not suffer from freezes or crashes IMO.
Marc

agreed... people, if we only discussed how perfect the n95 is then what would be the point?
probably 85% of the people that use the n95 will never have the issues i have because they don't even install any apps... out of the box the device is powerful enough for most... i just want to test nokia's "what computers have become slogan"
lol the s60 browser is light years ahead of opera mini... if i had to use opera mini on my s60 device.. i would use my k790 and laptop

@ Dragon Eye
Defiantly on the Nokia Browser i cannot understand why anyone would use Opera Mini unless they are paying for every bit of Data usage.
I also understand what you are saying about products living up to there claims. But if you consider my first ultraportable computer Toshiba Libretto 70ct, my current smart phone has faster processor 330mhz and if i remember correctly it was 100mhz. The amount of RAM 64MB i think the Toshiba may have of had 32mb after i added 16mb which cost £150 odd. my Smart phone is so many times faster and stable it is what the Toshiba has become. Smart phones really are Mini computers they are much more powerful and even have fully fledged2D/3D graphics chips far more advanced than computers of old. Portable computing is really start to take off and IMO. Online storage and syncing is already growing and Thin client solutions are also now becoming available and taht is the future os smart phones IMO.
To some a mobile phone i just that and entertainment to others it is mobility and access to everything they need when they need it. You can virtually do anything you want or need whilst mobile without a laptop. As tech continues to evolve processors storage and Ram in smart phones have more power than is even needed. HSDPA is set to start hitting over 3mbps shortly. I remember 9,600kbps and then 14,400kbps. Data growth has always been projected to have huge market share, That IMO can only start now as the devices become able to deliver acceptable quality and speed.
I do think the E90 might just stump your quest although i am quite sure like any device it won't be perfect but pretty darn close.
