The shape of the phone reminds me a lot of the K700i which I love.

Owned this phone for about a week. Traded it for a z610 for the meantime. My thumb started to hurt because of the keypads

Yeah, I also felt like you for the first time of use. But after like two weeks, it gets better. But the keys is the most bad thing with this phone.

Now I´m used to them, so I´ll stick with my phone.

Good for you mobile bear They tried the P900 keypad approach on the K550 but with the P900 keypad, it was so comfortable to text.

Hmmm... Am not sure about June/July but the price should drop quite a bit by September/October.... Because the introduction of the k850i will push the K790i's price down by a LOT... (the K790i's intro pushed the K750i's price down by 30%!) and the price of the K550i will HAVE to fall as otherwise it'd loose sales due to the K790i being just marginally costlier...

Flashed my white K550 to W610 last night. Has 3 flash menus as default. The phones is a lot better now!
Im looking to get a white W610 front for it to make it a proper Walkman Cybershot! Next Im looking into the firmware to try and remove the cybershot and insert it into the Walkman firmware.

The flash menu should work as the phone is flash menu capable. It's just a walkman fever

What's the real weight of K550i?

SE website says it weights 85gr. Eldar in his review says 95gr. W610i which is the same size as K550i weights 95gr. K550i should be even a bit heavier because of the metal (?) lens cover.

So where's the truth?

I love this phone, especially for a "mid-range" phone. Nice size - very pocketable. And the speakerphone feature is fantastic. Loud and clear. Camera is very good, not excellent, but definitely very good. I do wish the screen was larger, but that's one of the trade-offs for such a nice compact overall size. Moving files from my Mac to the K550i via bluetooth is a wonderfully smooth and simple process. Likewise, beaming contacts and calendar items from my now retired Treo is very convenient.

Because it's not a smartphone I'm not supposed to complain too much about the weak calendar function. It's the same app on all the K-series phones, and it sucks. Always has, and coming from a Treo I know a good calendar when I see it. That's about the only thing the Treo did really well. To help in this area I suggest anybody with a K-series phone who's not happy with the calendar get MobyToday. It comes with a 20 day trial period where you use the app for free and decide if you want to pony up the $9 for a registered copy. I bought it before the trial period was even over. Similar to Windows Mobile's "Today" page, it shows tasks and calendar appointments in aganda format. You can minimize it so it's running in the background and call it up when you want to see what's coming up on your schedule. Because it's a java app running in the background it has no noticable effect on battery life.

It's a quad-band phone so reception is practically guaranteed anywhere but the deepest wilderness. I suppose when the new-ness wears off I might flash it to K610 status for the Walkman software but for now it's become my everyday phone.
