@bart - I agree, iPod owners will sure get this phone, but think, if apple starts to develop their own phones like this one further, then what's the purpose of iPod, because in the future this phones will for sure come with 20, 60 or 80 GB memory. I'll for sure stick to Sony Ericsson, if I don't get tempted to buy long awaited legend NOKIA N95!

even thought, they want to make you believe, that its the full OS X - its not ...err...not the way the public wants to understand it
from a technical stand point its hard to explain
its OS X, but only the core - its not like something groundbreaking
the future of phones are not large harddrives - those users are not the majority

from a hardware perspective this is actually quite an amazing piece of work.. only thing it doesn't have is 3g.
from a software perspective it has the potential to be revolutionary if it lives to the hype..
mutli-tap... wow if it works the way it's suppose to then this really is a step in the future to all the "black box" phones and concept models that we see every once and a while
also it's a true computer .. (osx) that's insane if it works
very impressed with this product and looks like it'll have all the "little" things that make a phone UI special.. (similar to SE and the little things)
let's just see if it'll live up to the hype |

Well, I said this 2-3 pages ago, theres nothing you can do with this phone that you couldnt do now.
The wow factor for this phone has been on display as the BenQ Blackbox for the last 3 months.
But this device is going to be a hit because Apple can deliver quality like no body else. And then you can add the hype and usability.

well if ipod owner buy this phone then theres about 10 million potential customers.
i think it looks and sounds really good, i d like to try one before i d commit to buy one. to see if its style has substance.
in my opinion this could be a big seller so many people have ipods and this is just an extension to that.it will take market share from all the companies as it has that wow factor.
dont forget most people buy phones based around looks first and features second. compare this to current phones looks and it beats the lot |

Plus the phone has a sensor to turn off the touch screen once in contact with the face to avoid accidently pressing buttons...and I am notorious for this.
On an unrelated note, I am happy to see the aiport extreme comes with Draft N, so that means an update is on its way and my macbook should go draft n live for me to push hd content wireless. Brill.....
Back to the iphone for those saying it doesnt offer this and that...well lets just wait and see, I like the fact that they bringing free push email..Japanese phones hold tight...apple just brought us into the light.

Well it isa step forward to the future, yet the future is today all the screams about the uncompressing features and quality of iphone is only because of the emotions plus brainwashing. Look how much articles we have about it in only few hours after presentation, it is a product that we will pay money for but not only will we pay but we all pray to this thing as our new god. Actually it is nothing special, it is not a minimalist look it actually doesn’t have a design at all, no matter how hard they try they could not release any thing in July 2007 that will keep its battery life for 24 hours at least with the features and sizes described. The navigation without tactile experience is a worst ever invented, have any one tried neonode? User should feel that he pushes something, I believe. Finally it is just an advertisement that was lunched years ago with all the rumors, that makes us think of an iphone like something superior to the today’s technology. Don’t forget about the price if we say sim free it is nearly 1000 or even 1500 if I’m not mistaken.

better wait for seeing it in real action...its wise...i don´t doubt this is groundbreaking tech in mobile phones...for americans, the same guys that discovered sms 1 or 2 years ago, and who´s movies showed people using fixed phones and answering machines not along time ago

@DragonEye
In terms of features you can. Can still listen to music without itunes, view photos and have apps on the today screen.
Yeah true, the blackbox is a concept but you just know everyones been working on this for a while. Will be interesting to see how many iPhone like UI's will see this year.
In terms of size, it seems its about the same size as the bottom half (keyboard half) of a TyTN.
I hope they manage to release a 3g iphone by the Euro release in december.
EDIT
One feature that is revolutionary, is being able to scroll without a scroll bar.

Hi all,
To date I do not own a single Apple product having said that I already intended to replace my Sony Laptop with a MacBook sometime soon as I am slowly losing my enamour with Sony in general. You can be very confident that by the time this is released it will be a ready for market product.
The link up with Yahoo also shows that this is a serious product that will ship with push E-mail without the need for any complicated set up either and the added convenience of Google maps and Poi's fully integrated makes for a truly awesome combination. Sure I would like to have seen 3G and maybe this will be added for the European market but so far from what I have seen this really is going to cause problems for the more established Phone Manufacturers and the Smart phone market has a long way to go to catch up with this product IMO. The way the smart phone version will integrate with all your other systems is without any true competition currently and is going to take some catching up to even get close. I really do think my next products will all be Apple and I can see a trip to the States on the cards for July or August as I hate waiting for things. One last thing this is not so much a Smart Phone it actually is a computer in your hand with voice functionality IMO.
Marc

thing is, they call it the 'widescreen iPod' in addition to the other key features, which would lead ppl to believe this is a handy tool for videos, BUT, w/ only 4 or 8GB... i'm hoping they make use of the WiFi function 2 somehow access ur entire music/video library that's at home anywhere in the world like Archos have done w/ their 604 WiFi - jus look at www.archosfans.com - this is quite feasible for apple with the release of Airport extreme n the AppleTV etc
PS anyone think the glossy black front w/ chrome edging looks like the nokia 6233? |
