Sweat? I was starting to swear at the damn thing, especially when I thought I'd broken the connector!
I've managed to fix the camera - it looked like someone had replaced the lens cover on the facia.... and the muppet forgot to take a screen protector on the inside of it! Camera's fine now.
Will list the D500 soon, just going to evaluate it a bit further, then flog it as slightly faulty. As you say Goldenface, as it's (just) in a better condition whan when I recieved it, I'll hopefully make a slim profit.

Well it has not screen before so it was totally useless until you worked your magic on it
Good luck!

It is now fully working, apart from not quite shutting properly, and I do wonder about how long this ribbon will last as well. Should make a bit on it anyway!
Nearly forgot to add the £2.98 for that ribbon to my current running cost total of £18.48 (as it was over and above what I've made so far), making the total I've spent now £21.46.

glad to hear the repair went well, ive just found an official d500 ribbon flex cable in a drawer, taken from one with a faulty screen, Id be happy to send it to you for free if you think it might help. Its not in perfect condition, but should be the perfect length anyway, plus it looks fully working, just a bit scruffled at one end.
I know it might take a while for it to get to you and you probably wanna sell the d500 soon, but it might make that much difference when you can sell it as fully working...
let me know.

Thanks for the offer Greg I'm not sure whether I've the patience to take the damn thing apart again, I'll have a think though and get back to you... very kind offer of you!

@Sammy_boy
Well if you have taken it apart once then it should be easier next time and it was the length of your shorter ribbon which was the problem last time.
It could make a difference of £20 pounds in the final selling price

I've PM'd Gregface and asked him to send me that ribbon, I won't be lazy!
I'm just a bit worried about completely buggering up one of the connectors on the phone as I've already slightly damaged one, but one more ribbon change shouldn't be a problem

heres some pics of the cable. it was taken from a d500 which had smashed LCD and would not turn on... one end is a bit crinkled, but I would imagine it has a good chance of working still., maybe I'm wrong, does this cable control the phone powering on signal by any chance?
plus 3 t6 screws I have found, 2 from SE k800i so should fit some other SE's.

Are those dents or holes in the 'Main' connector end? If they're holes that have broken those connections then it may not be fully working sadly

they are dents, but one looks quite bad actually, its hard to tell, they might well be holes in the GOLD plating, not sure.
still want it?

Yes, I'll have it, hopefully can just improve on it's current state just a bit, so it closes and removes the worry that this current, slightly shorter ribbon will snap or break soon!
Thanks
