those are corporate decision.....we always heard ericsson will give up on mobile phone...though now it is almost same like giving up mobile phone by spinning it off....but hehe at least it still own 50% of it.
Thru out the year, i realise E/// or SE will have their phone out by christmas period or Cebit....so we might have to wait around Cebit in March next year for something new.
Tht's not too late if it is like what capatilnism mentioned....where a new phone will be out in 2nd quarter which is still the same time as those nokia phone is coming out. |

Re: There is absolutely nothing indicating that Nokias market share will even start falling (it has been increasing through this year) let alone fall to 15%.
Nokia is as far as I am aware the only manufacturer that has refused to sign an exclusive agreement with a network, and Forrester anticipates this will result in Nokias share falling from 36% to 30% |

If you guys knew how many times (in 2 years) I dropped my big-heavy-massive display Ericsson R380S on a concrete and marble floor...you'd be amazed I'm still talking about it. And I'm talking about an indestructible phone! Battery would end up 5 metres away from me - put it back, turn the phone back on and - voila! Display still working, all perfect. It's the only phone I ever used inside a full-metal elevator...reception quality gets lower but the line won't drop. I am even using the same headset I bought 2 years ago and guess what - still working....yes it's an old phone by now but it's feature packed even for today's standards and still far ahead of a BIIIG majority of mobiles.
Not a word my dear friends but hats down to Ericsson engineering.
I owned 3 Nokias before R380s and boy - what crap! I dropped the 6110 once and that did it - it was dead beyond CPR. Headset would stop working every month - I've bought something like 10 damn wires every year....really shitty quality. In the lift, line would drop the moment doors closed. This was the same also with 8810 (cute chrome predecessor to 8910) and the famous banana - 7110 so I guess it wasn't just coincidence.
I won't even mention the current Nokia range - they release 10 models every week- all looking same, changing only the nail-polish and some imbecile looking colour schemes. They ALL lack of advanced features and gadgets apart from the very top-spec models. It's obvious that someone has run completely dry of creative and marketing ideas and discovered that it's enought to have naive customers falling for cliche and street fashion tricks to have their stone-age products sold.
That too will wear out one day.
I am not a brand fanboy - couldn't care less for that. But if you tried all that's out there, burnt a hole in a pocket in the process then I could say I at least qualify for a unique perspective.
Go SE!

I just hope the new premium phones, P800 and successors, will inherit some of that old skool quality.
The cheap ones nowadays (T65, R600) come no where near their grandfathers (768, T18) in terms of quality. Luckily they have indisputed superiority in features (in the price range). |

I recently built myself a "time machine" in spare time, & after tea & iced lemon cake i gave it a go, i arrived in 2007 & imediatly looked up all the lottery numbers for all the draws so i could go back & win a fortune, however while searching old newapapers i stumbled accross an article, it read "ESATO TALKS, AGREEMENT REACHED" evidently esato had become a violent guerrilla activist group, who after delay apon delay of a paricular new handset, had taken to the hills, armed themselves and taken hostages, their spokesperson faca (a very well respected member /Rambo type character) was on the point of reaching the agreement when those TROLLS knicked the "umbrella" type thing of the back of the machine, after a token brawl i gained control switched the settings back to NOW & got back rather sharpish....now i know there are sceptics amongst you but i had to drag the thing back in through the french doors of the conservatory so that proves it happened, anyway the moral is FICTION IS THE FUTURE & THE FUTURE IS FICTION ... Ericsson had a dream & i`m going to use my purchasing power to make that a reality. |
