I'm borrowing a Vodafone Live Samsung XV30. Straight after I took it over, something wonderful happened and now whenever you try to access the internet, the phone reboots. Fun stuff.
It's one week until I get my baby back (yes my phone is a "she", Francois).
My exams went well - especially my last one. I'm only expecting As for English and Afrikaans though. And with any luck I'll get my A aggregate. I'm just praying that I get into UCT... apparently the LLB course isn't too easy to make... | |

Please, let's put thing in perspective and in the proper context. Tendulkar is perhaps the only true legend...the others you mentioned all scored their runs/got wickets in conditions which were conducive and most of those were at their homegrounds. Once they get anywhere near Australia or South Africa they're reduced to ordinary batsmen.
Apart from the Muslim convert Yusuf Mohamed(formerly Yohana) they are quite ordinary.

 We obviously watching different games.
India beat Australia in their 1 day series last year this time.
Kumble got 135 more wickets than Shaun Pollock with 7 more tests to his name.
I dont believe that homeground statement 1 bit, but anyway ill give it to you, just because.
Ye its Mohamed Yusaf now hes good but so is the rest of the team, Mr Bob knows the pitches here (obviously).
So I see SA getting a hiding, just before the world cup, ruining all their confidence and well falling out once again in the WC |

Let me
tell you guys about a little project of mine... You've heard of Smarties, right? You've probably eaten a box or three of them, i'm sure.
Smarties are
oblate spheroids
with a minor axis of about 5mm and a major axis of about 15mm. They come in eight colours: red, orange, yellow, green, purple, pink, brown and white.
So... Whenever i get a box of Smarties, I make it my duty to continue the strength and
robustness of the sweets as a species. To this end, I hold Smartie
duels.
Taking two candies between my thumb and forefinger, I apply
pressure, squeezing them together until one of them cracks and splinters. That is the "loser," and I eat the inferior one immediately. The winner gets to go another round.
I have found that,
in general, the brown and red Smarties are tougher, and the newer white
ones are genetically inferior. I have hypothesized that the white
Smarties as a race cannot survive long in the intense theatre of
competition that is the modern candy and snack-food world.
Occasionally I will get a mutation, a Smartie that is misshapen, or
pointier, or flatter than the rest. Almost invariably this proves to
be a weakness, but on very rare occasions it gives the candy extra
strength. In this way, the species continues to adapt to its
environment.
When I reach the end of the pack, I am left with one
Smartie, the strongest of the herd. Since it would make no sense to eat this one as well, I pack it neatly in an envelope and send it to Nestle, of 31 Lanner Road, Falcon Park, in New Germany, their postal address being P.O.Box 2536, code 3620. Their number, incidentally, is
(031)713-7100. Drop the zero and add the prefix with 27 when calling from
outside the country's borders.
Anyway, i include a 5cmx10cm card
reading, "Please use this Smartie for breeding purposes."
This week
they wrote back to thank me, and sent me a coupon for a free megabox of Smarties, one of those gigantic boxes, the one that kids stare at with those
"I...want...it...i...want...it... iwantitiwantit" eyes. I consider
this "grant money." I have set aside the weekend for a grand tournament. From a field of hundreds, we will discover the True
Champion.
There can be only one...

lol! That smartie thing made me wonder, when in life will I get so bored that I start playing with my food again...I mean, it's been like 10 years since i stopped....lol!
Anyway, Sunday morning like 3am I decided to watch The Skeleton key ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Skeleton_Key) because Kate Hudson is in it. So at about 5:20 I finish up, and the movie did not freak me out, since movies don't. This one had the thing of Voodoo/Hoodoo going, which was a slightly freaky concept, but I did not really worry. So anyway, afterwards I step outside for a smoke before I go to bed, and it is all light already.A few seconds later I notice a bag outside our yard. It was just a little too dark to figure out what it was from that distance. So I decided to investigate. So I get my pipe tobacco puffing, and then take a closer look...
...So I get closer, and out of the plastic bag lying there on our front lawn is a pig...or at least, it's head....Now just having watched that movie I could and should have been freaked out, but yeah...I just started laughing, because the chances of something happening like that is nearly impossible...but it did;-)
Anyway, still hard at work out in the field. Don't now if I will be in the office again anytime soon, so I will still be rare...

Finally on holiday now.
Winter has suddenly hit this place. I spent nearly 15 minutes scraping ice off the car windows this morning before I could even contemplate driving off.
There was documentary on one of the many Sky channels about the fall of Apartheid; managed to take a few pics from the programme. Will post some of these later.
EDIT: And here they are, all taken with the old P900. Some of these pics bring back sad/negative memories, but others will be forever within our hearts, no more so than Madiba 'grooving' on that stage back in 1994. These pics don't need captions; we've seen them all before nad it was a trip down memory lane, for better or worse..
A pity the part of ET on the horse wasn't the one of his impromptu 'dismount'...  , and they shoulda had a classic clip or two of Alan Hendrickse and co swimming at the the then-still-Whites-only Kings Beach in PE back in the day; I'm sure Kryptik will remember that day well.
Anywayz, funny seeing all SA-related stuff on UK TV.

that message came from my brother, and it wouldn't surprise me in the very least if he's really been doing just that. He's a chemical- engineer/metallurgist/quality control specialist, so something like that would definitely be up his alley.
Wanqa, i remember that day so vividly! Even though his political views differed radically from ours, about 50 fellow students and i went out to the beach to see Allen Hendrickse take a dip.
Man, it was more hilarious than serious, more so because it was flipping freezing that day. Technically Dudley Beis, who was his friend/party colleague/bodyguard was the first into the water, altho history records it otherwise. Uncle D had the one of the biggest bellies ever seen on a living breathing human being, but was as nimble as can be, as we saw when he only wet his feet then rocketed out of the icy water, while Allen stayed there for a good 15min freezing his Labour willy off 
It was pretty obvious that day that it was much of a hullabaloo over nothing... We stood just off the parking area watching said swim taking place, until a riot squad police captain asked us to leave. You could see he was pretty bored with it all too, since once the "you has 5minutes to disperse, this are an illegal gathering" speech had been made, we stood there chatting rugby to some of the younger cops against whom some of us had played before.
Allen made a speech after he towelled off about how the Group Areas Act had to go, etc etc, while some NP hecklers tried to shut him up.
Some years ago, immediately after the announcement of the scrapping of the Group Areas Act, a Muslim policeman and his family were the first blacks to move into an exclusively-white area. I remember how we came out to support them when the then-AWB and HNP held a joint rally in front of their house. Quite a few of us spent the night locked up in the local cells because of our presence. I was lucky, my folks could afford the R25 bail, and as we were driving home my dad stated that he was of the opinion that blacks would never be made to feel welcome in that neighbourhood..
The irony of how things have changed is that i now live a few doors from where it happened... and that same local police station is the one where my wife and i annually drop off some Xmas eats on Xmas Eve for the various shifts.
Things can be bad sometimes, but we live, we breathe, we carry on. Ain't life just grand?!

@da wanqsta: Speaking of tv, have you explored YouYube of late, there's a gamut of old SAUK programmes and ads posted on there...my favourites are the old propaganda-laced news bulletins from circa 1985...The SABC might have improved on their techniques but there's still scent of brainwashing when I watch the news at 10pm on SABC3.

@ da brixsta: Will defo check those out on youtube when we get back from doing a little late Christmas shopping in central London. I want to also try out the O2 XDA Stealth smartphone, a slider with conventional keypad underneath, and a rarity for some of these 2mp-equipped Windows smartphones called auto focus. After Christmas would still obviously be the best time to buy, and I can wait a bit longer...
