My MTN Daily Data Plan observations.
1st Experience: Activated to browse @ 3:16pm. De-activated @ 2:39am. Data used: about 9mb.
2nd Experience: Activated to browse @ 11:18am. De-activated around 2am. Data used: about 50mb.
Conclusion: In MY case, this theory is flawed.QED.

@oluy: u can sign me up! PM me the details of what kind of content u r looking for and how often u need it.
@all: i think mtn is just flubbing it as they go. If they are having probs with thier billing system, they should have done the usual and give the service out at a token price. |

@all: I just spoke with someone at MTN Data Support. He's asked for detailed info so he can investigate. If you have used the 50mb Daily, please PM me the following details: phone line used; time subscribed; time cut off; amount of data used by the time you were cut off. This is an opportunity to do something about it. Thanks.

Feedback on today's MTN Bundle experiment: I got 50mb! I still believe that my theory has merit. The times in the past that I got less than 50mb were occassions when I did not use up the 50mb allocation by midnight. In my own case, the expiry text came in between 12 midnight and 2am. Either the system delayed or a buffer period exists before users are cut off. @Brym: From your statement, you were deuactivated both times around 2am - plus or minus. There's a pattern emerging, surely. what everyone can do when next they want to try the bundle is that you send the activation SMS anytime from 12 midnight. That'll give you a window of roughly 12-12. Then see if you don't get your 50mb. If you cant request around midnight, do it as soon as you wake up in the morning.

@oluy: its the deceptive advertizing that annoys me. If i decide to activate at 10pm to use the supposed 24hrs till the next day, im screwed! It reminds me of glo's limited unlimited access. Rather than elude to 24hrs or 1 day access, they should have gone for something like midnight to midnight. I know, it doesnt sound "sexy" but that's why they have thier PR and branding staff for. |

3rd Experience: Activated @ 2.44pm and de-activated @ 1:21am. Data used: 32.8mb.
Comments: I'm back to 15k/kb(pay as you browse) until this issue is resolved and I am compensated. Over to you O'Yom since I already have an issue with glo at NCC's Consumer Bureau. |

I guess this MTN stuff has to do with the way their computers are programmed, which means you get deactivated by midnight/early morning no matter when ur activated. I guess the best option is to go for the 1month plan or get activated by b4 6am. |

Ouch Blackgig, 0mb? That must've hurt.
@Oluyom: I think ur theory might hold water. I got cut off at about 2.30am.
Still trying to purchase another daily bundle without success. |

Right on! Once we understand that this is how it works, then we can adjust accordingly. Blackgig's statistics also add weight to this theory. He activated towards midnight and was still deactivated shortly after midnight.
@abu: You are right about the misleading adverts. They should have specified 12-12 instead of saying 24hours. I'll mention all these to my contact at MTN.
But at least we know now that the 50mb is not a hoax.
I suggest that those who need access only at night should subscribe for the All-Night package (N2,500, 10pm-5am for 30 days, 3GB data cap). That's a good deal, if I ever have seen one.

My target was the 3gig Night option but with the Daily option giving us unstable results I don't want to be the guinea pig. It won't be funny to receive a text, two weeks into the plan, from MTN saying 'your monthly' has expired when you have barely used 1gig.

We are also using the 30-day All-day bundle at the office. Its been 2 weeks now, and so far so good. Back to 50mb, I subscribed again a little after midnight Sunday morning, and used it all through the day. As at the time I went to bed yesterday night, I had used 48.6mb of data. I am certain I would have gotten the full 50mb if I had stayed awake and kept firing. But I had had a hectic day and needed my sleep. Guys, it is clear how this thing works now.

Okay lets see how that plays out. But 3gig or 30days (whichever comes first) is by far a better deal, as it works out to N400 daily for 100mb data download. |
