I just found my old r520m, and put my SIM in. The battery still had a charge! This phone brings back memories, way ahead of it's time! I have the silver one, does anybody know where I could find the orange one to buy? (That color scheme was a real look into SE's future with the series...) |

It wasnt orange in colour but copper. It was quite a different colour to what used on the walkman phones.

/// had a problem with the first lot of R520m's (the copper was only available when the phone was first released) and recalled the handsets and when they rereleased the phone only made them in silver. Thats why the copper one is so rare. I think I have actually seen more copper prototypes than I have normal production copper ones.

Although they are rare, I have both copper proto and production ones, the proto being a TU1 so the first of the proto's, and had them on sale here and ebay, but due to either spammers on ebay, or silly offers on here, have decided to withdraw them from sale. Have to say they are brilliant phones, and my proto has completly original software on it.

Do the motion sensors (or whatever they are called) working on the R520m's? I think that was a great idea, being able to switch from speakerphone to earpeice speaker just by putting the phone to your head.

You could also put the alarm into sleep mode by waving your hand over the phone.

Motion sensors work fine, or at least the last time I used it they did, and yes if the alarm went off, just placing your hand over the device would put it into snooze.

Because R520m and T39m were made when \\\\\\ was at the top of his popularity. Maybe the next phone after R520m from ericsson (not R600 because it's an ODM phone) could have motion sensor too.

T68 was the next phone and it did not have the motion sensor.

That not the real true. The TUs are TrialUnits based on the prototype given and sold to network operators and bluetooth developers. There are also real prototype units out with hardware revision P1x. Afaik the TUs have already a R1x R2x hardware revision. I have some P1x units called Prototype, Prototype CLP (with enabled debug menu) and an Evaluation sample. All have a P1A or P1AB hardware revision.
BTW:
I'm still looking for a R520 TU3. If anyone has one, contact me plz.

Well, no other phone got this feature because the motion sensor got ericsson in a lot of trouble. Most protos and some release units had a working motion sensor but most of the released ones have a bug that the snooze function works by itself when sensor is activated. The reason is afaik based on costreduction and cheap production which has lead to this error (and a lot of waranty returns which was no repairable. So they had to give the customers new T39 or new T68 in return. That has been a very expensive problem for Ericsson.
