I can't believe this is MTN shelling out such innovative service.
Network quality is also about the best for now.
Thumbs up MTN, way to go! |

None, bar the capability of your phone e.g. processing power, data capability e.g. 3G or 3.5G

The only speed issues here are those of limitations in transfer speeds of Buetooth, Infrared, and cables. Right now, USB is the fastest of the lot. Not sure which of BT and IR is faster.

i've read up on the bt vs. ir issue a long time back. bt was faster. had to do with the checks that the ir had to do to confirm the data package was sent properly.
..
@oluy: i was to lazy to check the mtn site for this detail: does the 24hrs delay also apply for the 1-day bundle? if it does, that would suck. a quick decision to use the phone rather than, say, go to a cafe, would not be possible. but dont laff, when i say this: MTN HAS FINALLY RISEN THE BAR!!!
I doubt Zain has it in them to do a thing. Glo might though. |

@abubakar: Actually, the activation is instantenous for all packages. I know 2 people who have done it. It seems MTN stated the 24-hour clause to cover their backs in case of system delays. One thing though: if after sending the required SMS you receive confirmation of activation but cannot browse, restart your phone. That solves the problem.

well i'm in abeokuta browsing via nokia 6280 via bluetooth modem via mtn sim. there is no 3g coverage here i think because the phone doesnt show that.. the phone is 3g enabled shey?
so that wil put me on the edge/gprs band.. there is also no 3g in nasarawa where I'm serving and will be returning to soon.
the speed is OK sha, i subscribed for the night belt thingy and activation was instantaneous. Na only this 3gig ceiling sha but wait i go just buy another sim when this ones limit has been reached.
bluesoleil doesnt install on my vista laptop, i dwnloaded one and it does just not work.

@2tek: another vista bombshell. thats why i'm still on xp. my laptop will stay vista free most likely till its end. when i eventually get a new one (most likely sometime next yr) by then all vista kinks should have been ironed out.
@all: i feel like such a traitor to the anti-mtn movement cos im such a cheerleader, but on checking my balance i see i had N490 as my sms bonus! where did that come from? i havent seen any write up on how to get these bonuses. just to leak the secret, my wife delivered a gorgeous grinning girl day before and i was smsing like there was no 2mrw. could that have triggered it? or have i loaded (or expended) credit up to a certain target? what ever it is, they should accompany it with an sms. would be better PR for them. |

@abu: Congrats! When do we come for rice and chicken? As per the MTN bonus, it seems that it comes with loading a minimum amount of airtime. I loaded recently and got N500 bonus airtime too. Is this a dream? Did someone benevolent secretly take over MTN Nigeria overnight? First, the great data packages. Now bonuses. What next?
