@abu/O'Yom: Make una lef Coola alone to enjoy him honeymoon until whenever e ready to return.
Hey! Are you guys following the Olympics? Seems bad for Naija so far, with all our ambassadors crashing out at the heats/prelims. Will our soccer team overcome CIV today? Many questions...

@brym: I'm not much into sports, but why should we be surprised that our boys and girls are crashing out? As usual, we were ill-prepared. Government was more interested in putting down money for the delegation than for the preparation of the sportsmen and women.s.

@brym: as long as we dont have any olympics programme in naija there is nothing to expect. Everytime we have won a medal has been due to pure luck or raw talent. Virtually everyone on our athletics squad runs for one "awayan" college's varsity track team. |

You guys are right about our preparations; always too little and too late. It is same story every Olympic year. And there is really no programme to develop talents and so most athletes depend on colleges abroad.
Victory over CIV yesterday was great. Hope we can push on further. |

@all: the story of the Nigerian athlete is that of hunger and heart rending deprivation. And yet someone, somewhere is sitted expecting ten gold medals when the system has done f..k all to encourage them. The trainers nko? Same story, sadly. Was acquainted to one boxing coach at the National Stadium like two years ago. His case is a brainer. This guy subsists on less than #100 a day avr. A look at him would tell one what he needs more than the other;FOOD! How can he coach then? Who does he coach? The malnourished athletes? Go to our stadiums, you'll cry for anybody that calls themselves sportmen. |

That is why we will never do well at the Olympics. Most members of our contingent are foreign-based and the only reason why they were not snapped up by their host countries is because they are not outstanding at what they are doing. If we have a medal hopeful at any event he or she would have been offered a foreign citizenship. |

@mamba: So, what are you replacing the P1i with? A member of our workteam purchased the Nokia E71 last week, and we spent time together going over and configuring it. Excellent specs and hardware, but crippled by S60's basic interface. We ended up both longing for Nokia to incorporate the advanced functionalities of the now dead S80 (wishful thinking) and UIQ into the upcoming, new S60.

I might be replacing it with a Nokia N82 or N78 cos I'm kinda tired of touch screen phones. I just need a phone to make calls & browse occassionally.
N3310 >> N8210 >> t300 >> p800 >> Siemens S55 >> Sagem V55 >> k700 >> P910 >> k750 >> k600 >> P1i |

@smol: The E90 bored you easy for the same reason the E71 will bore most of us: S60 being a basic interface. It just cripples the otherwise excellent hardware of the E90/E71 (and those are two really powerful phones). My question is, What do YOU look for in a phone? Its obvious though that you are a geek, mmeaning you must love to fiddle around. Maybe you can wait for the upcoming Sony Ericsson Xperia, or get a Samsung i780. Both are Windows Mobile powered, and offer a more advanced interface than the E-series currently do. Still cannot believe I've become a WinMob advocate. I should be shot!

O'Yom: Thanks for the heads up. This is a killer initiative, let us see what those "follow-follow" Glomobile will come up with. I am wearing a "yhello" smile already.

@brym: MTN's full of surprises these days. The 1-day ALL-day bundle would be good for weekend browsing - N1,000 for 100mb for the weekend. Not bad. The best part, IMHO, is that they thought of the prepaid market - which is the REAL market.
