@ Francois,
LOL, I guess you're right; how much fame can come from producing a stamp CD? Sigh, money makes the world go round, doesn't it?
Cue Afrikaans Darth Vader (Daaf Wyder?) voice: " Moenie die krag van Die Stamp Kant onderskat nie..."
Have you checked out this 'stamp' thread?
http://www.mybroadband.co.za/vb/archive/index.php/t-35881.html

@ Siosal,
Yeah I remember watching several Discovery Channel programmes on the Special Air Service's training.

There was also some South Africans in a programme I watched some time back on the French Foreign Legion training, following them from when they enrolled to them receiving the coveted Kepi Blanc.

@ Kryptik,
Yeah, powerful and memorable stuff indeed.

@ amawanqa, lol, that was funny! Will go check out that thread, could do with a laugh:) the ultimate would be to make stamp that is so good it would humiliate all the other stamp makers, and you let it be known that a guy that hates it more than the devil made it:) Darf Wyder:)

@Brix, Ya They sampled Marvin Gaye. I think one other Mabhaqa artists sampled it also around 2000-2001.

@Franc, I haven't had a chance, to download yet. But I promised I'll do.

Maybe since you play instruments maybe you can hook me up with samples sometime. I will PM you.

Hope i can help, teeninvader. I will have to do everything digitally, which i can pull off using software. Actual recording requires equipment with price tags that would make a successful and highly corrupt politician cry:)

Anyway, that stamp thread was hilarous:) i need money. I am highly tempted to try my hand at writing some original afrikaans material. It is my mother tongue, and i might not like it at all, but surely i can try operate in it a little. Besides, no-one will know it is me, and maybe i will develop some cultural patriotism, something i have never had. I believe in balance, so that balance would be good for me.

So a quick question- what was the worse fashion craze you can remember that makes you think, gosh, how retarded...were we as the humans that stupid? I got one or two. Those caps with the metal on the front, the 'boy' and 'girl' ones. And my other, the coloured sunscreen that cricketers use. On them its okay, but goodness, it is NOT cooler than looking human on the beach:)

I have a buddy who did the course some years ago, Sio. Those backpacks are called bergen, filled with about 20kg of goodies, and they go for a hike along the Brecon Beacons. Not too sure where exactly those beacons are, i think he mentioned Scotland. Or was it Wales? Or Ireland? Anyway, it's hell on a man's body apparently; he served briefly with the SACC's 2nd battalion, then disappeared off the map for quite a while. Neither family nor then-gf saw hide nor hair of him apart from the occasional telephone call. Next thing i know, he surfaces amongst the guys escorting Madiba outa Pollsmoor. He still visits when he's in town, but remains tight-lipped about his current status, apart from telling me about those gruelling paces they were put thru with the SAS.

Brecon is in Wales, swaer.
It's a nice riverside dorpie in mid-Wales; we stopped there back in '97 and '04.

Thanx for the clarification, boet. The only things which i can remember about Wales would be the fact that their male voice choirs are superb, and that the rarebit isn't really Welsh

@da wanqsta: I saw it on Sky News earlier today...ok, I laughed at first when I saw that tornado had hit London- it sounds too good to be true. But I guess with all these changing weather patterns and global warming anything is possible....The bunnyhuggers are probably already writing a press release warning about the dangers of global warming.

@da krypsta and francois: I haven't used Opera Mini since my K700 days...nice app, just I hurt my eyes trying to read text- and I've got 20/20 vision.

@ da brixsta,
Ya, and this rather unseasonal weather that we've had of late hasn't done anything to dispell those notions.

Taken with the Nokia 3230..the smallest road-legal 'bakkie' that I've seen to date:

Right, we're off to (finally) see Borat now.
See ya'll later.

This guy in my old church did the special forces thing, but in jew country.that guy is insane!protected the prezzie, and all. I would not mess with anyone that was in the israeli special forces. Then i also know a oomie who trained the rekkies. He is the nicest guy you will meet;-)

Any of you guys see the casino add on tv, the star wars one? Classic seeing the storm troopers in a taxi:) Daaf Wyder i say:-)

You know what is bad? When you drive with someone who is going 160km/h in a bakkie that shouldn't go that fast, and people still pass you. Saw some bad accident scenes tonight. Guys, drive responsibly...

So much for seeing Borat; we ended up watching the new Bond movie instead!
Apart from the handsets Siosal mentioned, it was funny seeing an old knackered-looking Ericsson R600, with a colour screen! LOL. (used by the 'parkour' urban acrobatics guy during the cobra-mongoose betting scene etc.)
My nephew returns to SA on Monday. We want to see Borat still before he leaves though.

@kitsune, totally agree with you about how Casino Royale is like 1 long SE advert. I don't like the new Bond all that much either. He hasn't got the same kinda charm nor class that Bond traditionally has. And the storyline itself wasn't all that fantastic. Anyway, it's the start of another day at work for me. Got a sore throat, so I'm wondering how I'm gonna talk to my customers. Haha...

That's a real shame bro. It makes me doubt the capabilities of the technicians at the various service centres. There was this once I sent my 3230 to a Nokia care centre to get something fixed, and when I got it back, some of the catches on the casing weren't done properly. Anyway, I did mention how I feel about Casino Royale in my previous post. In short, it's one long ad for Sony.
