@Oyom, what do you think about switching from P1 to i780, what are the pros and cons?
In fact, do a mini comparison of the 2 phones so that I can decide cos I've been eyeing the i780 for a long time and thinking of selling my p1...
here's my comparative review titled Sony Ericsson P1i versus Samsung i780.

That is to say you doubt that I told the truth in my review? You will hear from my lawyer!

Mine is PayGo too, and delivers both 3G and HSDPA nicely. I must also mention that my experience and the reports of others show that MTN's packet data tariffs on PayGo are down to about 20 kobo per kb. No news of this on their website though.

even @ 20k per kb, it still doesn't make sense for heavy users.
thanks oyom.. |

@brym: Someone had mailed me to say that he observed this reduction in price when browsing on MTN. I ran a series of tests, measuring as accurate as possible data used, and its clear that the current tariff is in the range of 14k-20k per kb. You may verify this easilly too.

the iphone 3g is out and i am dissapointed in that certain features are missing that would make it the perfect phone for its users |

@mariwun: You sure are one really disappointed mobile enthusiast! :-D But I'm feeling you. There really hasn't been much to get excited about lately, as manufacturers merely re-hash existing models, adding one or two things and releasing them as new models. Bah.

I really hope Sonyericsson doesn't end up like Moto and Siemens.
All their phones are begining to look and feel the same just like Moto Razr which everyone got tired of eventually. To make matters worse, they don't even know what direction the mobile industry is shifting to. SE do not understand how customers think cos they always differentiate products by excluding features that people want in an all in one device. e.g. W series having poor cam without autofocus and 3.5mm slot, K series having sub par music players, reduced screen sizes in recent phones, very poor fast port, lack of GPS, HSDPA and 16m screens, and worst of them is lateness in releasing announced products which end up being released with outdated features, poor quality and crazy bugs.

@pmamba: SE does seem to be going the way of Moto, Siemens-BenQ, and Alcatel. They are not quite there yet, but its slippery ground they are on now.

All these dooms day talk about SE is making me cherish my P1 the more...the last flagship device from soon to be extinct UIQ platform. I recently spoilt it with a 4gig card and I am almost modding it to death with every new mod that is released.
SE smartphone segment will survive if they continue in their current drive to produce devices for multiple platforms. Hopefully, we shall be seeing SE devices running android, WM, and Symbian Foundation operating systems. Hopefully!
