@brym: Reltel's internet has been generally fine. good performance as a rule, and a few hiccups now and then.
PS: don't say I told you, but I sold the Mogul today and replaced it with another WinMob device - the Samsung i780. shhhhhh...

@brym: the i780 is a perfect device! i'm browsing with HSDPA on the MTN network with it. Of course, there's GPRS and EDGE too.
The idea of a mouse on a phone? what was Samsung thinking - because it works marvellously well!!
The phone looks cool, is small and sturdy. And the CD comes with a multi-media editing suite. One spare battery, and an external charging accessory, so you can charge your spare battery separately. What were those guys smoking? They thought of everything.
Built-in GPS (though what good it will do me in Lagos, Nigeria, I dont know).
Brym, this phone na phone! My second Samsung in all my life, and I'm impressed.
@area: Glo 3g (and even GPRS) is pathetic. abeg, try MTN and see the difference.

@ O'Yom: You're certainly having a great time with that device. How does the 320x320 pixel screen handle the display of 320x240 pixel apps?
The price is great for all those features but it hasn't changed for 2 months now, right?
@Area: About time, welcome to serious mobility. 3g works for me but I only use it whenever GPRS fails...3g drains my battery fast.

@Brym: No, price still the same. So far, all apps I installed work fine, including Opera Mobile 9.5 beta.

@O'Yom: Any significant performance difference between the Mogul and the i780? What about multimedia playback of audio and video and the camera? |

brym, the much bigger RAM on the i780 provides much better performance. the processor is also more powerful with maximum clock of 624MHz. audio volume is low. video playback is exceptional - actually one of the best, playing DVD-grade videos without having to convert them. i took some comparison shots with the Mogul, and though without flash, the i780 camera is much better than that of the Mogul.

O'Yom: How's the battery life? From the specs on GSM Arena, Samsung included two high capacity batteries(1480 mAh). This capacity beats the battery included in the Nokia Beast N95 8G. If Samsung has truly addressed the nagging battery issue associated with their phones, it puzzles me why 2 batteries were included. What's your opinion?

@brym: So far, battery performance seems to be okay. It is early days yet, but my opinion is that battery life is good. I'm connected to 3G/HSDPA all the time, browsing, managing email, and chatting via Yahoo, and in the space of about 2-3 hours I still have up to 70 percent power. Having used other phones, that looks good. Will drill the battery tomorrow and keep the phone unplugged to see how long it will go under constant 3G usage before it dies. Will update then. One thing I notice, though, is that playing video gobbles up power like nothing I've ever seen with any other phone.

@Oyom, what do you think about switching from P1 to i780, what are the pros and cons?
In fact, do a mini comparison of the 2 phones so that I can decide cos I've been eyeing the i780 for a long time and thinking of selling my p1... |
