Ah so they're just going to give us cheap ass Walkman phones and use em as a low line deal? Oh how the mighty have sunk. So low. |

What would you habve them do as selling only feature phones (essentially) hasn't made them any money for the last two years? |

Well if they actually didn't do terribly with making them, I would have suggested something but I'm mad at SE for doing this. They're turning out to be the next Moto. |

If this is true

I'm off. I don't plan to get tied to a company
which does not let me do anything without a control.
Motherfcuking Microsoft.
All the fun of waiting for WM 7 is dead.

I wonder what SE will do with windows now. Every phone will probably look the same with so hard rules. Then we have the xbox support.. Dont think SE will be to happy |

The stuff on WP7 is quite true actually which is putting me off. WM has always been like a proper PC in your pocket which is why its so powerful but now its becoming a dumb phone OS. Yes its more like a phone which some would like but is it really any better than Symbian or Android now that its lost its brains? What if iPhone gets multitasking, what then for MS?
I've had a HD2 with WP7 (early version) and deep down its nothing so amazing. Yes it looks nice and it does everything that a phone does very well but so does the iPhone. My day to day X1 with X2 ROM maybe a bit whack now but its been heavily tuned and customised the way I like it, thats priceless these days. The XDA guys could go into a proper business kitting up WP7 for us, allowing us to install stuff on our phones which sounds ridiculous.
Been spending time with Vivaz and Pro. I think I will probably get one of these. I had a HTC Legend and as beautiful as it is, Android is not for me. Nokia Symbians are not great even with capacitive screens for future N series, I expect them to be dull devices. I can't decide on which Vivaz, qwerty or the much better cam and bloody lipstick stylus. I feel dirty going back to after slamming them badly and destroying many of their phones, my X2 only managed a couple of weeks before decapitation.
The Walkman range will be quite crappy, budget stuff mainly. EU and Xperia will get spec'ed up accordingly. |

I think WP7 is truly a victim of the success of Microsoft's other products (the Zune & XBox 360 and to a certain extent Windows 7). They want to have an integrated ecosystem and to be honest, this would have been difficult to do with Windows Mobile as it was (6.X) with its hardware and software fragmentation. I don't blame em. By packaging WP7 the way they did, they will be able to cross sell other products such XBox 360s, Bing, Windows Live, Zune (hardware, software, and media content). This is precisely what Apple is doing with iTunes/iPhone. I can honestly say that MOST people don't want PCs in their pocket. They just want to be able to access the information that matters to them, everywhere they go and entertainment. The fact that you can compress RAR files, edit registries and system files, only matters to geeks/advanced users. Unfortunately, they don't buy the majority of devices. But I digress....
LOL at your X2's decapitation. I recently cracked the screen on my X1 on "accident"....it has been a love hate relationship with this thing, with more hate as of lately. I am going for a Motorola Q9h until the X10 is released in the US or something better comes out in the summer.

Any news on a C905/Satio replacement for this year?? I'm planning to upgrade my C905 in a couple of months, Satio looks good with all the nice upgrades it's getting, so do I wait for something better??

So basically, we won't be getting anything higher than the C905, W995 and Aino for the foreseeable future?
I really don't understand why SE doesn't give us a full touch, mid range, 5.0MP, Walkman branded, PMP/phone based on A200/OSE.
It must be so easy for them to do.
They'd really clean up - big time!

How can the Walkman range be budget stuff? They should be mid to high-end. Aren't there any touch walkmen to come?

A touch enabled feature phone will be coming in the second half of 2010.
A Walkman feature phone will be shipping at the end of the second quarter (July).

Euh, where exactly do you read that the touch phone won't be a smartphone?

Because the point of the article is about the reduction in feature phones and it's discussing how only two orders for such phones will be submitted to Arima communications in 2010.
EDIT: Justamp is reporting that:
Sony Ericsson may also release orders for touch-enabled EDGE handsets to Taiwan makers in the near future, the sources asserted.
Why EDGE when 3G almost the standard now? Doesn't sound very high end at all to me.
