but you do know why it's so thin right?
That's why they made the smallest model with a 20inch screen, so there is more room to spread everything. (which is smart)

No pics I'm afraid - completely forgot in my eagerness to unpack and set-up!
One thing I would strongly suggest to anyone setting up a new Mac for the first time, is to boot-up from the installer DVD, and re-partition the hard disk into at least 2 partitions - one for the system and other(s) for files, music etc.
It just makes things simpler if you ever need to upgrade/re-install/troubleshoot etc.
Also, with these new iMacs, the default monitor calibration is way too washed-out. Go into Displays > Color and click calibrate and go through the steps. You'll hugely improve the display colours and brightness etc.

@Superluminova
What sort of things do you want to do with your Mac? I can then suggest the best apps for those tasks...
A few very useful general utilities are as follows:
- Transmission (Bittorrent app)
- VLC (video player)
- Roxio Toast (CD/DVD burning)
- Flip4Mac (Windows Media video player)
- Onyx (system maintenance)
- Butler (app launcher and shortcuts)
- Skype
- Adium (multiple service chat client)
- Boot Camp (run Windows on your Mac)
- VisualHub (all formats video conversion and encoding)
all except Toast and VisualHub are free, and all can be downloaded via www.versiontracker.com |
