I have finally hacked my PI guys.. WM3 is definitely worth the risk I took. I'm gradually beginning to like this P1. I guess I'll still switch to a G900 once it's available in Naija.. |

Sounds like we have a convert! Praise the Lawd!
Speaking of switching, honestly after the P1, if SE or Moto do not give us power users something along this line, and S60 stays just as basic as it currently is, my next smartphone is likely to be Windows Mobile. There are signs that WM prices are beginning to be reasonable.

Yes. O! Nokia seems to be running out of ideas these days. Nothing innovative only repackaging old features in new phones. Physically the new S60 phones like N81 and N96 look too similar. Other designs are just dull...no wow factor.

This is really taking me by surprise. Samsung i780, a recently released WM6 PPC device selling for N51,000 is truly breaking tradition especially when HTC's S720 WM5 smartphone released nearly 2 years ago is selling for N60,000.
More of this Samsung. LG and Motorola are following Samsung's lead...More please!
By the way, S60 owners, your phones are 'hackable' too O! So, share your experience.

Celtel is currently selling the Moto Q9 (WM6) for less than N50,000. Good. But I haven't seen any such devices from LG yet.

Nna, it is for this reason that I decided to go the S60 way by purchasing the E50, but so far I've not been able to "hack" it yet.
I've however been able to install the following applications for free
MSDict full version
YBrowser
SecMan
Gdesk
Olive Tree Bible
BinPDA root certificate for crack software
Searching for the following
Psiloc IRemote
Psiloc Font magnifier
Screenshot V2.70
But I'm still going to get me the P1 |

Still can't sleep because of Manchester United's well deserved victory in Moscow. Men, what performance this season!
I am still trying to get drunk on bottled water to enable me sleep. .

@Brym: So u're one of those Man'U fans? I would've loved to see Chelsea win, they were more determined and played an overall better game. Avram Grant made substitution errors that cost Chelsea the game.
No.... I'm not a Chelsea fan!
Does anyone know or has used Visafone voice or data service? could you please review their service here. Compared to Starcomms, how would you rate them? |

amby! you sure say you watch dat match? ...anyway dat na subject for another day.
@all: I was at MTN's friendship centre today to enquire about their mobile TV service.
Here's the gist.
1. As you are aware it operates on 3G, so coverage is a factor to consider.
2. 10 channels offered
3. Service is currently received on configured ZTE f912 mobile TV phones.
4. Tv Phone can only be acquired from MTN for N43,500.
5. Service is free for now until billing is introduced...N1,500 monthly.
6.Claims battery life of TV phone is 8 hours, no spare battery included neither do they have to sell.
Unfortunately, I couldn't see a demo because the demo Tv phone was being charged.

For now I think the mobile TV thing is for people with more money than sense. The handset is useless for most other things other than the TV. At 43,000 it is way too expensive. Are there people who moves around so frequently and so jobless to waste time on mobile TV?
And I dont think, the handset uses 3G for reception. Non 3G handset with DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld) can receive the signal. Though, the signal is currently encrypted for the ZTE hadset only. |

Plus the fact that the signal is encrypted so it works with only the ZTE phone that MTN alone sells. Subscribers cannot get any of the DVB-H phones on the market to use with the service.
Madness has no more apt a depiction than this. When MTN is ready to offer mobile TV, they know what to do. Till then... duh!

I really hope this mobile tv scheme is a faliure. With any luck they would have spent some money on it with little return. Why would they encrypt their signal so it can only be received on a useless phone? Lets see if glo and hi-tv have an answer.

Believe it or not, but I have received calls from at least five of my friends who consider me a "know-all" especially with mobile phones regarding the ZTE mobile TV. But trust me, I discouraged all of them, using incomplete 3G coverage as my excuse.
@Namzo: whats starcomms i-Zap?
