@Olu, I believe you can get subscribed in hours cos I recently switched a prepaid line to extravalue in Akure and it didn't take more than 30 minutes. |

Crap keyboard? You cannot be talking about the P1 keyboard. I've got huge fingers, and I type fluently/proficiently on it.

Chinese Phones.
I recently purchased this chinese phone. It is labelled CECT TV C6000i. Thank God not a Nokia or Nokla. The specs. 2sim each standby sametime (no switching), 2 micro SD cards, Bluetooth (only handsfree and obex file transfer), call recorder, analogue TV, FM radio (good signals on both and no need for headphone), three batteries (one built-in -my phone works with no battery! The seller told me it uses solar!), data cable (USB stick and PC cam, no way to sync with PC), 2 cameras (no 3G). A swiss army jack knife of multimedia, only for N18,000!
My impression is that this is technologically superior to anything Nokia, Samsung or SonyEricsson has out there. The GUI is very unpolished of course. Apart from that and poor manual and no sync, it is a good buy. And I'm not a noob, I currently own a PDA 2i, P990i, E90 and I have owned many more "superior" phones.
I hope it last. What do you guys think?
By the way my p990i is up for sale. Available for purchase in Ibadan, fully working and latest software. Bring in an offer and walk into my office and pick the phone.

i also bought the p1i based on olu and brym ratings and i most say that i made the right choice. the phone is credible. i think you should be patient with the keyboard, you'll get used to it pretty soon, and maybe you should update ur firmware if handwriting recognition is really slow. |

Chinese phones, nice specs but dont last. you can always expect it to develop one form of problem or the other in a couple of months except you're reeeeeaaaaaally good in taking care of your phone, anyway best of luck with ur new phone. |

I guess the p990 would have been a preferable option for me cos of the lack of d-pad/call/end keys on the p1. just not that convenient as a phone for making calls since i have to pull out the stylus all the time. I guess I should have waited for the G9000 instead.
the slow handwriting is due to some language version issues which can not be solved by an update, except the CDA is changed with some kinda software. |

I remember telling you guys about the slow HWR on some models of the P1. You should've tried it out first before purchasing. Oluyom's P1 has no issues with HWR.
Wanna sell it?
@adrussa: Chinese phones are great when admired in someone else's possession. In two months, you'll be eating your words.
I agree with you though on the innovation in some of these chinese handsets, and why the big brands do not offer same. (for instance dual SIM capabilities and analogue TV)

@Amby, I might just consider selling, but how much are you willing to pay?
I guess i might have to wait for g900 or buy a Nokia E51 now cos i make too many calls and don't have the time for pulling out a stylus all the time.
P990 would have been ok for me except for the RAM issues. |

Make me an offer. I just bought a Nokia E50 to replace my N70-1. Haven't even taken possession of it, as I couldn't find it here. If your offer is good, I could replace my M600i with it. Send via PM |

This is not an attempt to defend the P1i or make it look good, but my experience with it is that you do not need the stylus for many tasks - including making and reciving calls.
Your fingers should work well for managing calls. Mine do, though I have huge ones. Try it out a bit and see. See my article, Using the Sony Ericsson P-series without a stylus. It was published early April this year.

I wonder why Nokia or SE have not produce a dual-sim phone for Naija people. A large population of nigerians own at least two phones.
@Olu & Mamba... Tell me more about Mtn extravalue |

@mamba:Go instal Gdesk and forget ur stylus. I rarely use mine.
P1 Keypad? Not the best but I have fully adjusted to it now. Great feedback.
Play with the P1 some more, because for some of us it was a slow progress from 'Disappointment' to 'Manageable' to Ebano'

It is my prayer that you do not get used to the P1, so you can sell it to me cheap and go buy your E51.
You might find this useful. http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=162250&start=30#post2270597
I'm afraid to comment about Celtel gprs lest it collapses again, but for the past three days, its been smooth sailing, although for some inexplicable reason, it doesn't work at my house, but works like a charm in the office.

@amby, i have finally fixed the slow HWR issue. I had to take the risk by changing my CDA to WG1 with XS++ then did an update via SEUS. HWR is now as fast as it should be. |

@mamba: Bold move, thank God it addressed your problem. Any other significant performance improvement from the update?
