Hey! Shakur where did you spring from? Don't you know we are "ghosting" right now.
Your profile says you are based in leeds. Do you have celtelk (is it celtel) there? |

@amby: last i knew the minimum for the celtel post paid package was 5k. that was what put me off. if it was 3k i know i could use that in calls if the gprs was absent (by omission or commission). But if it has changed pls give us a shout!!!
You are not compelled to use up the 5k every month, rather that 5k is your upper credit limit for any given month.
The problem is less of upper or lower cred limit as it is that Im hardly long in an area that has Celtel gprs so there is no need to force all my voice calls on to my celtel phone when im out of gprs area just to ensure i make the 5k min, at the same time loading my mtn to get gprs. I know i cn make 3k of calls on the celtel but not 5k. Multiple lines no good o! |

That's a conclusion I have arrived at too.
But with regards to those who need both voice and data convergence here in Nigeria, usually something has to be sacrified for another. It is tough, especially for someone like me who does a lot of work on the internet on the move.
Still, one must choose whatever works best for one. At the moment, it is my opinion that MTN unlimited GPRS data line is my best option for mobile internet access. It is a shame, though, that the line offers no voice or SMS, so I still need a 2nd mobile. Sigh.

Its likely that with MTN you'll get GPRS access. Glo is your next best bet.
All the best!

I thought there was an unlimited GPRS option for #12,000 monthly combined with #1,500 access charge on MTN extravalue post paid? |

Yes, there was and still is. But the stress of getting subscribed to that was killing. I got the data-only line without hassles through one of their dealers in less than 15 minutes.
If anyone can accomplish the same with MTN XtraValue, I'm interested please.

@Olu, I believe you can get subscribed in hours cos I recently switched a prepaid line to extravalue in Akure and it didn't take more than 30 minutes. I decided to buy a P1i after noticing the high ratings from Olu, Brym and Amby. All I can say for now is that it's not as great as I thought it would be. how do you guys manage to use the crap keyboard since handwriting recognition is terribly slow and useless on it |

@mamba... elaborate more on this Mtn extravalue. W960 would have been a better choice if you are having problem with the keypad of P1. But i think you should patient. P1 is a lovely device |
