K700 / K500 Firmware Overview |

I forgot to say, I already tried uninstalling and re-installing both the SEUS software and the DSS-25 drivers. Which by the way I've never known what the difference is between the ones that are available (P900/P908 and P910 drivers). I ended up keeping P910 drivers, but DSS-25 works on both with FMA |

I had a few months ago the same problem. The solution was for me : master reset before update via SEUS. After that it worked like a charm. Hope this helps ..

Already tried that, didn't work either. Thanks a lot though, I guess I'll just keep trying |

yeah, i also have the same problem as pedrojec, but earlier today, i just upgraded an unbranded k500i with firmware R2AA to R2AE033... no problems whatsoever with that upgrade, only with the k700i upgrade. good news is that, the phone is still operational after the error message appeared...

Bought K700i with R2A041 in Oct 04.
Phone would lock up occasionally, began to get much worse recently.
Upgraded Firmware to R2AE033, problem solved.
Speaker began to distort after upgrade, Master Reset fixed this.
Anyone else had this problem??

I keep getting the same problem, "Error in communication with the device", tried updating Java, even tried in another computer with my DSS-25 and still nothing. So I tried with a K500i with R2A0E33 (unlocked and unbranded) and it was even worse, I got the message "There is no update service for your operator" or something like that. I'm beginning to think it may have something to do with the fact that both phones were unbranded with DaVinci, has anyone been able to use SEUS after unlocking or unbranding the phone with DaVinci? Thanks again... |

cheers

I have absolutely no idea which one of the many things I did was the one that made it work, but I FINALLY UPDATED THE FIRMWARE OF MY K700i! (R2AE033 to R2AY004). In case anyone wants to give a try to all or to some of them, here they are. I installed everything from the CD that came with the phone (I had never used it before but in the FAQ it says you must have PC Suite installed, not really sure if that's true), then installed some Sync Station for K700i program I downloaded from SE website, allowed all cookies, changed the internet security settings (Microsoft Internet Explorer) to LOW, disabled Norton Auto Protect (Norton Antivirus 2005), and played around with whatever "Java Console" is (don't really remember what I did there, but it is in Tools->Java Console in Internet Explorer).
Some of the things I did (or maybe all of them!) sound really stupid but hey, give me a break, I was desperate!
Thanks everyone... |

I would not recommend others try this method as you will leave your pc vulnerable to attacks. All you need install for the SEUS is the drivers for DSS-25. You do not need to install the PC Suite / Syncronising software as reccomended in the SEUS faq. Although you may want to to test that the DSS-25 is working ok. I did not bother and it worked fine.
Once the DSS-25 is installed just run from the website. IE will ask to allow the SEUS software to be installed and aslong as you agree to this you should not have to change any other settings on your IE. |

Sure you got a point there but I had done all that several times and still got the error message so I thought it was worth giving a try lowering the security settings in my computer (temporarily, of course) as sometimes it's helped with other stuff. Right now I think that's what made it work and not the other things I did but I guess I'll never know (or maybe I'll find out next time there's a new firmware update at SEUS!) |

i was having problems with SEUS as well, so instead of using IE, I used Mozilla Firefox and that worked flawlesly. |
