@auchengyu - from what i understand, those camera "features" are individual "apps" that can be added on as more are developed for it. I would imagine, there's a way to add it back after rooting. though I'm not clear on how that would be done as of yet..

"We've shot in a mixture of light situations and switched between the Z1's "manual" mode which lets you shoot at the 20.7MP maximum resolution setting with a 4:3 aspect ratio and the default "Superior Auto" mode which captures 8MP images with a 16:9 aspect ratio. While the latter mode does not allow for any adjustment of image parameters, in the manual mode you can change image resolution and aspect ratio, modify the white balance and apply exposure compensation."

Why such omission? I can't have 8MP mode with manual settings to fiddle with?

Cheers,

miki - the last line says in manual mode you can change image resolution and aspect ratio, etc etc. in other words, in manual mode you can put it into 8MP mode and do whatever you want.

holy crap Dacha..

$900!?!?!

that's insane. they are definitely not posting MSRP. that is their "Let's see how much money we can make off these overanxious fools" price.

I'll be switching to Tmobile and getting C6903

The price will come down. It has to if Sony wants the Z1 to sell. No switching for me. I am grandfathered into the AT&T unlimited data plan and have over 6000 rollover minutes. I might not even get the Z1 but my sister wants one.

lucky you. i guess you never got an X10 or Ion huh? they took away my grandfathered unlimited data when i got the X10 (not even from AT&T). I will miss the roll over, but if i have unlimited talk, i guess it doesn't matter. ha.

why does AT&T have to be such a pain!? and yes, the price will come down. My prediction is it will sell at $699 or $749 USD when it hits US shores officially. If sony makes a deal with tmobile to offer the Z1, then i'm guessing AT&T version will sell for the higher price. This is all my speculation by the way.

I'll be switchin to tmobile but if it sucks, i'll come back to AT&T after the mandatory wait period, sell the C6903 and get the C6906.

for fun, check out this great Z1 commercial from Sony

Guys I need some help!:) I'm highly attracted by the Clove Deal:) I'm from Italy and I would like to know if buying the C6903 could bear problem in terms of band and compatibility with our operator (I.e. TIM, VODAFONE etc)... And also, is the C6903 the model with .h265 compatibility?:)

yea i expect to see that price fall dramatically... but the C6906 is the one for me, so we will see. i dont know why its so expensive initially though but demand must be high.

this internal storage (and 24bit audio) amongst some other niggling issues are holding me back slightly seeing as how the note 3 has what the z1 is missing and vice versa (i wish i could combo the two into an ideal (2013) device)... either way 16gb is sticking in my craw about this device. again having 96gb total on a 4year old device, another that costs 900 (;P) right now shouldnt have anything lower spec than a near half decade old device.

I highly doubt that they're selling the C6906. WElectronic is another grey market product seller. Another give away is the spec. Just don't get your hope up, could be just a typo due to C6906 being the most easily access white paper, which is used in both Sony's UK and Germany site.

The C6903 is for the European market, so you should be fine. If you're worried, narrow down to which provider you're going to use. Then find out what frequency/band they're using through these two links:

if you buy unlock and stay at AT&T without unlimited, you can choose to not get smartphone data plan and use wifi?

Theoretically yes, as long as they do not have the IMEI on file. Though you will have to take the chance and try it out. Another work around you can do is, if they catch you and force you on a data plan, you can put your SIM back on a dumb phone and go to a store to let them know you do not have a smartphone. Though for the solution I offered, you may have to keep going back if they catch you every time.
