Personally, I had no troubles with it yesterday. The D-Pad was actually quite easy to use - one thing is though (after having used all the other joystick K-series) is that you naturally begin to press in the middle of the d=pad to select on item, which doesn't work. You have to shift you thumb/finger above to 'select' the item.

What do you guys think of design? I think SE could of made a better one.

IMO its a shame they spoiled an awsome phone. If you watch vids on youtube people strugle especialy with the D pad

not strugling, they learning. every new thing takes time to learn. i think the D-pad gone be awesome. one guy who tested it, said it was faster then the ordinary joystick.

i have now order mine. wondering when i get it. (maybe august, i dont know).

Never! You've to shift your finger from the D-pad to the middle "sensor" button on the screen. That's never faster than that ordinary joystick.
At the moment those "sensor buttons" beneath the screen doesn't act properly. You've to press them quite hard.

I find the ordinary joystick better than the d-pad. It is much faster with the ordinary joystick navigation because every direction is on the same button and you just move your finger in the desired direction. When using the d-pad you have to move your finger to the button you need to press which takes more time than using ordinary joystick. I think many of the people are just afraid to buy phones with joysticks just because of the issues with them and prefer the d-pad more.

The 'soft keys' aren't as repsonsive as I would've liked them to be (although the MDM's did keep stressing to customers that the handsets all had proto firmware on them). It certainly takes a little getting used to from using a joystick. In time, it'll get faster to use is my opinion at the moment.

As for release: the guys were saying Oct/Nov.

As for a comparison shot between a K850i and a 5MP digital camera, have a look below (apologies beforehand - I'm not the best when it comes to digital cameras!)

CANON IXUS 50

Is it just me, or if you click on the small pictures they still pop up as small ones in the new window? Could you pleas post them in full size for head to head comparison?

Thanx.

It's logical. The more you have to move your finger the more time it takes to navigate through the menu.

Yes... probably due to the CMOS chip Quite different from those fancy samples with suspect EXIF data.

I just took the pic, didn't fine tune any settings - just point and clicked. I'm gonna see if I can borrow one for a day or two, so will have to take more pics if I get my hands one one.

Thanks Marc!

Actually, it's not that bad.

There is very little EXIF data, but I assume the one with the better colors is the Canon. Since the focus was pretty off on the Canon shot, it makes comparison hard since the K850i seems that much sharper.

The k850i colors being so washed out could be anything, it's probably just that either the wrong white balance was selected or it was left on "auto" which is always inferior to a manual setting. (In the store it should have been set to "fluorescent", i guess).

In any case, even if it had the correct setting, this will be easily fixed with the final firmware.

There is only one thing: you see the typical CMOS noise, but that was expected (sadly).

Just my 50 cents.
