OT
THIS IS AMAZING
Teen's invention could charge your phone in 20 seconds
Eesha Khare, 18, of Saratoga, Calif., Waiting hours for a cellphone to charge may become a thing of the past, thanks to an 18-year-old high-school student's invention. She won a $50,000 prize Friday at an international science fair for creating an energy storage device that can be fully juiced in 20 to 30 seconds.
The fast-charging device is a so-called supercapacitor, a gizmo that can pack a lot of energy into a tiny space, charges quickly and holds its charge for a long time.
What's more, it can last for 10,000 charge-recharge cycles, compared with 1,000 cycles for conventional rechargeable batteries, according to Eesha Khare of Saratoga, Calif.
BATTERY PROBLEM SOLVED
I hope this technology becomes available REALLY soon! It could change the entire electronic world!

EXCITED FOR THE HONAMI !
Why! what do you know? Come on, share with us!
No more than what's been mentioned already in this forum (I'm excited already based off of what we know) - but then if an insider were to make the decision to tell us some new information on the Honami which they decided that they could just about get away with telling and yet still be alright, then that would be awesome.

There are an awful lot of problems with ultracapacitors in consumer devices. If you're looking for faster charging, look at the work of researchers at the University of Illinois. If you're looking for higher capacity but the same charging, check out big blue's lithium air tech.

Don't like posting too many questions but.. things just popped into my mind
@Ramu
You mentioned One Sony tablet few pages ago.. Is it the 7inch Xperia tablet rumoured at the first page? Or will it be another 10inch tablet for 2014?
Also, is Ray3 Japan only? 2014 device also or we're gonna see all these s800 devices in 2013? |

Honami update!
Guys, Ramu was right on size, no 4.8 inch screen and quite a bulky guy that Honami.
Prototype thickness is around 15 mm with Sony trying to size it down to 12 mm. Big ass camera sensor and Xenon confirmed!
Release window is between October and March '14 because of those production issues.

so there will be 5 more devices with s800 by the end of this year right?
The Honami seems to aim at the rumored S4 Zoom and the Lumia Pureview
Sony need to act fast, otherwise SS will take the advantages again
Btw, with Xeon flash and big sensor, that thickness is not a problem for me

I don't really mind, as long as they round the edges and add Bevels to make it more ergonomical. Kind of like the HTC One, which too is pretty thick, but the designs curvature mitigates it.
I just want to see it!

As long as the design and build quality are what they're rumored to be I don't really mind. Nokia's Lumia 928 is 10.1mm with a large sensor and xenon flash and looks pretty fine to me... But Sony should release before 2014 otherwise imo they'll fail. Other OEMs will have already released S800 devices and Samsung's next gimmicky, plastic success Galaxy S will be close to launching... |

Well they won't be able to.
Every thing we know so far from the Xbox Infinity is beyond everything we have from PS4. Unless Sony does something, or MS screw up really hard, then Xbox already won this generation.
Also, uterly dissapointed with Sony. What's the reason with Xperia UL? Also, Honami, 15 mm and still trying to make it 12mm? That means no thin phone with a good camera (don't need to be that awesome)...
Well, or Sony comes up with something different (same specs, except that nice huge camera), or I'm moving out.

3000mah with 10.x mm...i hope 12mm at least 3500mah...
i remember ramu said battery bigger than 3500 mah is in prototype too..probably 4000mah?..i hope sony use it...

How?

I dunno, its pretty pointless as a device. Maybe something between ZR and Z.

What are you trying to say here? What's disappointing?

Again, I don't really understand what it is, that you're trying to say. You want them to release the Honami with the same specs, but without the big sensor? Or you want them to release the Honami with the big sensor, but with different specs? I don't know. What are you saying?

Regarding Xbox, there is a bit of personal opinion. Xbox in general offers a better overall ecosystem. The control is much better to handle (it fits your hands. I don't even know how I stanted Dualshock 1 and 2 before). As we know until know, Xbox 360 games will run on Xbox Infinity. To say a few reasons.
Regarding UL, why have another nich phone. I mean, we already have too many. If they try to fit every and single nich, then they will explode with 20+ devices a year, at least.
For the first part of Honami, it is dissapointing because of such thick phone as being the second half flagship. I know, they want to beat Nokia 808 and Lumia 920/25/28, and that is where the second part kicks in. Why not make a similar device (design and spec wise) but with a not so big sensor? I, of course want a good camera, but I think I can sacrifice a bit of it in favor of a slimmer design. 10mm is top for me. Imagine a 12 or even 15mm phone with a huge 5 inch screen? My Xperia S badly fits one of my jean pockets, as it is 10mm thick and has a 4.3 inch screen...
Also, I just noticed it has a Xenon flash. I never saw one of these (I'm 16 only, though), but I read that it brings some good lighting, in expense of making the device thicker and using more battery. I also don't know how it affects photo quality, but if it is the same as the LED flash on my S, then I don't want a camera that makes everything yellow-ish. My screen is yellow-ish enough.
