Unfortunately, I don't know of a solution. Have you tried doing a master reset of the phone?
Also, one other thing to check is that the files you are sending do not have double extensions on them. e.g. "picture.jpg.jpg". You would only see this in the Get Info window for the file.
Happened from Day One with a brand new, unlocked, unbranded phone, so I don't think a master reset is the answer.
No double-extensions on the files, either.

I used Parallels to flash both my Nokia and my SE (no longer have as SE will not support Mac's) phones.
No problems at all.

It has to load the drivers.
It will do this when you install the SE software.
After you connect the phone and hold the "C" button, it should go into the hardware detection sequence.

I know I don't drop by here very often - haven't been around for a long time in fact. But I very pleased to see this thread is still going some 2 years after I originally posted it!
Anyway, the point of this post is to ask you what you think about the p990i as I may be getting one very soon?
Also, how easy is it to set up the wifi side of things - I want to be able to share my Virgin Media BB connection via my Netgear WGR614 wireless router with the p990i?

The one BIG disadvantage of the P990i is that it is not compatible with iSync - at all.
There are workarounds here: http://mobile.feisar.com/uiq3.html |

I don't think this will be a massive problem as I don't tend to use iSync or iCal for that matter. I tend to use Entourage as my PIM though I'm using Google calendar mor these days.
I'm more concerned about being able to access the internet through my wifi router so I can use Google Calendar etc. direct on the phone.
Thanks for the useful info though cos I may need to sync the phone with the Mac directly at some point.

You can't sync SMSs as such (why would you need to?), but you can copy them from your phone to your Mac for reading and backup.
BluePhoneElite or PhoneAgent will allow you to do that.
If all you want to do is send and recieve SMSs via your phone and the Mac Address Book, you can use BluePhoneElite or the Sony Ericsson Address Book Enabler.

Why SE only put in 802.11B is a mystery. This is the exact reason why I am slowly turning my back on them Nokia, for what it is worth, is making better phones, and using new technology (in my opinion) and they have said that their phones will support Mac as well as Windows. SE could not care about supporting Macs.

I'm awating the arrival of my new Nokia N73. I'll take a gander at the issues of each in syncing with a Mac when I compare my K790i to the N73. These guys called Feisar are developing syncing plugins for SE and Mac but if Nokia has this kind of support out of the box it will figure into my plans big time. Although I do love SE products, I'm not blinded my my fanboi-ism.

That is, I imagine, down to the fact that 802.11g was maybe not so widespread when the p990i was released and also the processor in the phone wouldn't be able to cope with 802.11g speed. Or maybe I have no idea at all what I'm talking about which is probably more to the point.
As to Nokia and Mac support, I can't comment. I know that when I had Mac OS9, there was no support for Macs and since I got my first SE phone, the t68i, I've had no problems with Mac support until I got the p990i. Even this isn't a major issue because there's always bluetooth and vcard support. Also, this program, p990iCal,which I haven't tried yet, seems to resolve the issue with synching to a Mac.

If you go to the Nokia site, you will see that they now have plugins for the N, and E series (Symbian phones). Many work right out of the box. SE is dropping the ball and losing me as a customer.
