Hi all,
Would it be possible that SE do a similar thing that they did with the W880 when it was announced and then released virtually immediately? now that would be interesting. How long is it since the P1 was launched?

I think it was somewhere at the beginning of May...
I suppose that P1 is going to replace M600 and the upcoming P5 will take it's place as the most advanced smartphone in line.

SE should have treat this phone as phone for modders also  but given it's symbian OS this is impossible  just like any other symbian phones which are only good for 3rd party software, but modders hate them more

I still wonder why there is no invitation to press ? Incase of w880, atleast there was some teaser kind of invitation....
I am almost losing my sleep over this p5i.... |

I just have to laugh, a huge thread about P5i, people hoping for a picture of a phone they can't have for about 9 months!
Lets have a little sanity check.. This phone will not be on the market for about another 9 months! Look at the crap we are being fed about the w960i... Does anyone actually know when we might have a release? Given the nonsense over the UK release of the p990, i suspect the W960i will turn up in about another 6 months... and i guess i'm being optimistic here.. 9 months!!?? lets call it 12 for the p5i..
So to put it in perspective, while sony give details of great new phones, when we want them, and the rest of the competition are releasing their equivalent models.. We will have to wait at least a year.. and ultimately they become out of date..
@PK, clearly you are a lucky guy getting all the new toys, perhaps you might have a word in your Sony bosses shell-like..
Loyal UK customers aren't going to wear this crap much longer, after a T68, K700, W800 and p990, i'm sick of this crap.. i saw the W960 as a perfect phone for me, then the P5 turns up! even better, but can i actually get my hands on either? NO..
My contract has been up 3 months, and what else can i do but look at the nokia range, even though it sooo sticks in my throat..
We sony fans are all acting like those perverse apple people prepared to buy whatever rubbish our favourite company throws at us.. Perhaps its time we used this powerful forum to change sony minds.. oh yes, they never listen to customers.. then the only solution is to buy Nokia?

There's nothing wrong with fantacizing. Some humans are smart enough to experience the joy in advance whenever they want to. But dumb ones prefer to be sad of 9 months waiting...

9 months? the phone hasnt even been announced, 2 humans have seen it, whatever it is ...
ill wait but PK should have just divulged the announcement date, instead of his holdings. IMO it was stupid to do so before he was able to reveal anything legitimately. |

The Symbian OS is more secure now with 9.1a. Modders hate it because they cannot hack software as easily if at all any longer. The OS and the guis (UIQ & S60) are thriving now because more developers are able to code, upload & sell their software without fear of loosing more for each installation.
This is a GOOD thing. The only thing you need to hack is settings that affect the phones connection to the network, WiFi, BT performance if at all could be thought as needing to be tweaked, and cpu speed. Themes = make your own. Other than this nothing is needed any longer. |

I don't know where have you been, but W960i is already scheduled for this month to release. So it's actually not long after the announcement.

No one knows of what could come. All I could say is the lower end phones would highly appear for sure. High end phones could be pushed back if they want. I'm sure SE doesn't want the same mistake as P990i where it was released a year after announcement. It's called scheduled for a reason, we could cancel or change the schedule anytime. Please, even Nokia does that, so why not the others?
The shift of the announcement ONLY sometimes will it affect the release date. A press is a press, the matter is that whether SE already started manufacturing those phones or not, they could already started manufacturing before the announcement(that is as if that phone will not be canceled in any way). Or else they would not be able to release some phones right after the announcement
