I love the dark too; night is the only time i can draw, write, read in full awareness. But if we didnt have nice long days, i'd be lost in a sea of poetic melancholy and pensiveness. The sunlight keeps me sane.
I have S.A.D. and hate winter. I'm moving to a desert as soon as i've finished studying!

I'm pretty much a nocturnal creature of sorts, and after all these years I still haven't mastered the art of getting to bed early enough that I didn't feel like a second rate zombie early in the morning..
I also have a horrible habit of working brilliantly under pressure (I can be an unofficial demigod of procrastination when I want) instead of utilising and spreading the workload over a greater length of given time.
I do see it as a horrible habit for me (sometimes...), 'cos then stress manifests a jekyll and hyde demeanor, on both my persona under such condtions and work rate.
In other news,
's W710i has already started dropping in price...
Now £159.95 (approx R2240) when bought with £10 airtime, unlocked and no branding from Carphone Warehouse:

There's nothing wrong with working excellently under high pressure. I used to resist my procrastination to the point where i felt utterly powerless. Then i decided, screw that, every brilliant piece of work i've created i did the night before it was due. So i saved myself a lot of stress and insomnia going with my innate flow.

Working well under pressure indeed has its merits; it has saved my streaky bacon several times over, but I still yearn for being able to 'spread the load' of work when there's sufficient time given before a specific deadline.
However, my creative juices just don't seem to flow prior to a day or two before that deadline.

True genius never was disciplined, timetabled, routine-bound or reliable. True genius has always been inspired. Two of my favourite thinkers, Vincent Van Gogh and Antonin Artaud were complete failures when it came to balance.
I know that as much as i think i crave calmness, i'm only ever truly alive when im feeling something intensely.

Just as I was about to go gaga over the new Gmail app it gave me an error message this morning when I tried to check my mail...something along the lines of my signal being weak...WTF? But I'm sure it's an issue that should be sorted out soon.

Hey guys. I went into Vodashop today to pick up my brand new m600i and guess what!!! The systems were offline! They are keeping one for me and I should have the handset by friday as I have an extra busy week. I'm getting it free on the weekender package. It looks awesome. BTW it's only available in black and is vodafone branded(yuck!). Anyways looking forward to the possibilities this device offers. Gonna use it mainly for office(word, powerpoint, pdf), internet browsing, occasionally mxit, and as a music player. Can't seem to find a sony 1gb micro card tho. Vodashop have the 512mb for R350.
Anyways, I never really formally introduced myself to this thread but I do read the posts almost daily. Here's a little something about me:
22 Year old guy from Durban
Medical Student with one year of studying to go (fingers crossed)
Interests are cars, technology, movies, video games, and SE cellphones.
Anyway, will report back on my findings as I know a lot of you are interested to find out how UIQ3 performs.
Cheers

I can empathise with that.
BTW, you mentioned art theory in a recent post.
That conjured vivid memories of secondary and tertiary art lessons. Very different in these two areas of education...at high school there was an obvious fervour to explore elements like the wild brush strokes and raw colour used by Fauvs like Henri Matisse, or the dreamy elements and attention to detail in surrealism etc...yet I left art out of my third and fourth years of tertiary education, purely because I refused to be made to conform to limited, pigeon-holed styles or made to feel asif my own personal artistic flair and styles were being stunted, thanks to a half-hearted lecturer who made it his forte to 'deliver' lessons that required minimal planning and void of any differentiation or room for personal development. Arsehole, as an art lecturer anyway.
Such instances emphatically remind me of the sheer impact, importance and significance of my selected profession.

Today has easily been one of the best days i've had this year; had planned to go watch movies with some of my kids; unfortunately my former headmaster passed away on Monday, a man for whom i had incredible affection and admiration. The message conveyed by the presiding minister was so appropriate, a true and worthy reflection of John's life. To their enduring credit, the boys opted to accompany me to the service, after which we went off to the movies, where they decided that we would watch Adam Sandler in "Click". The moral of this movie, together with the message in the funeral service really made me realize how precious family is, and how important friendship should be. With that in mind i invited some family and friends to join us for supper at Guido's, and we're having a rip-roaring party in the back room right now. This is life!!
"Work as if you don't need the money, sing as if you're all alone, dance as if nobody can see you, above all love as if you've never been hurt, and live as if this place was Heaven!"
speaking of art, while i was doing my initial studies, my art lecturer was Amos Langdown, who passed away earlier this year. Within days of his passing his work was selling for incredible sums of money. What a gentleman, who went out of his way to encourage us to explore, to discover the limits of our abilities and go beyond those limits... I wasn't ever good at most forms of visual art, but the music never stopped playing...

Just heard Gnarls Barkley's new song on Virgin Radio, and it was a bastardised cover version of the classic Violent Femmes song called 'Gone Daddy Gone'. Oh dear Gnarls...one for the 'must try harder' category, methinks...

LOL @ da wanqsta
Was hanging out with some of my friends this evening, all in our 20s, and almost fell over laughing when people starting reminiscing about the good old days of kwaito...
I wanted to come in say "it's only been 13 years since the first known kwaito track was being played on radio but I didn't want to spoil the mood.
@jitesh: Good luck with the new phone...For a while I was tempted to part with some cash for the M600 but something inside is telling me to do what most people fail to do on Esato and that's to
wait
It is with a sense of accomplishment and anticipation that we usher in this 3rd year of the thread's existence. We've seen some exciting changes in the cellular industry in our country. It has exploded from a small hesitant start to one of the biggest in the country, if not the continent. These are exciting times in which we live, folks, and the future holds much in store for us, methinks.
To one and all who post here, as well as those who follow this thread,
Here's to the next 2 years!!!
