Mariwun, its not illogical. 3.5G is only a software modification to a 3G installation, just as GPRS/EDGE are software modifications of a 2G installation.
GloMobile was able to launch straight off with 2.5G for this reason. It isn't a big deal for MTN or anyone else with a 3G licence to start off with 3.5G services. The difference is just software.

@AYA: i still get what mariwan is saying. though it may be only a software difference (though i think there is also some hardware differences) there would definitely be a price difference. and MTN being the cheapskates they are, would almost always take the low road.
anyhow, no signal in Abuja. |

well it seems 3g is the issue @ hand now,saw a glo ad in the papers today, iguess they do not want to be outdone by MTN. I see 3g signals here in Ib. Would we have to change sims? i'm not lookin forward to the service sef. cos i'm sure they are using something like 10g in china like this....

I just saw the glo ad on telly. What's up Celte?l am patiently waiting for thou!
I don't even know if my 3G phone is already receiving signals or not. I am really not enthusiastic about 3G yet, may be until data friendly Celtel gets on the bandwagon. |

I have been doing network searches for 3G signals since I got into Lagos yesterday, and I have to say that MTN hurriedly made the announcement of a 3G launch so as to be the first to do so, not necessarily because they were prepared for it. So far, glo has the widest coverage, while Celtel is second. MTN takes the rear this time.

This has been a quiet week! I thought with all the 3g buzz we would have analysis, debates and down right brawls over the issue by now. Well, yesterday my mtel gprs finally disappointed me and refused to work so i'm back to posting with my mtn. And with my opera mini set in its non- mobile mode it actually does have a higher kb count than its predecessor. But good news! Saw the mtn 3g signal yday in abuja. Will see if its up in kaduna later, God willing! |

@Abu, forget KD. ALL the networks will start in Lag, PH and Abuja.
I will only be interested if they have some kind of free trial.
@all I had a fire incident that has kept me busy all week. Just uploaded the pix on facebook The fire wiped out my PC, Monitor, and many clothes. I started hearing that all those who prepare to get married suffer some kind of "attack". Can any confirm? |

@coola: sorry o. Anyway thank God it wasn't worse than that. Of course you should know that the devil and all evil forces always try to forstall the institution of God's word amongst men. But note that I said "TRY" because they always fail.
Goodluck! its D-Day today..... or maybe I shoulda said W-day

Thanks. The final date is now 1st of March 2008. It was supposed to be 15th of December.... the fire would have occurred one week to the D-Day. This may be my last day on the net... I de go home for the holidays |
