Hey pao... ADW is a great app... Been using it for quite a while... It does slow down the Mini Pro a bit... This is one of the reasons why SE limited the default interface to just one widget per screen.
No need to root the phone... It installs and works right away.
Just try not to go crazy on the widgets otherwise you'll find the Mini will do everything except answer calls! Hahahaha

@ diffused: You have a limited gprs data connection which will not work on android. Only the default browser works with limited gprs. You will have to activate full html gprs from your service provider.
Thank you sooo much. This did the trick. All up and running now. |

Bonvox,
sorry, but I can not agree. Because you have had bad luck with your minis for unknown reason does not mean there are big quality isues with them. I would guess majority of us in here can be witness of that.
Regarding the battery, have had mine little over a month and I think the battery of the little bugger is, if not great, at least decent. I'm getting around 2-3 days of use on average and probably up to 8 days if it just rests in my pocket with 3G turned on (it consumtion around 10% per day in standby mode). Granted there is a great variance in battery life among mini users, I can see similar variance among other smartphones such as Galaxy S (not to mention IPhone 4). Don't think the battery is that bad as you comment suggest compared to other smartphones.
How much do you get out of your Galaxy S ?

Hi Steele, all android phones sync with google online services. Syncing with a Mac is easy. Your Mac syncs with google (gmail, google calendar) then your phone syncs with google.

Bonovox, I had similar power issues with my Mini Pro the first day... Was gonna return it cuz I thought it was a defective unit... Turned out to be a defective SIM.
check your unit with another SIM... The Mini Pro seems to have issues with the newer 128k SIMs... They tend to overheat then shut down the phone. I solve my issue by placing my SIM in the freezer for a minute.. Stupid problem to have but it does shut down the phone. I'll be requesting an older 64k SIM from my provider, and I'll keep you posted on the developments.

I agree to what Arne Anka. has said. I think X10 Mini has befittingly got the EISA award. This device is an excellent Android device considering its price and size. in fact I have no grudge against this phone. On the contrary after having used S60 v3 and v5 and WM6.5 for a long time I find the Mini excellent. A few glitches here and there will expectedly be sorted out in due course. |

Actually, it's a great device..period. The fact that it's cheap is a bonus. Initial reports were us$100 more than what it came out at. It's actual only drawback is Donut. Battery life is about the same as any smartphone if you play with it as much. Background services also drain power... So watch out for all the apps you install that may be running in the background the whole day. Ym, push email, tts, gps, etc.

I've had my mini for 2 weeks now. The first week was really disappointing as the phone kept losing its juice even when unused. I could barely get an entire day out of it, even with very light to moderate use. It was ridiculous having to turn down the brightness level to zero.
I installed the advanced task killer earlier this week, and set it to crazy mode, killing apps everytime the screen shuts off. Et voila! I'm on my 40th hour and still I have 25% left! That is with some browsing, several calls, many text messages, and most importantly for me, with the screen set to maximum brightness.
My only gripe though is that it doesn't work well with lockbot, even when I uncheck it.
Hope this helps. |

@pavlov's_dog
With the full sized X10, we were advised not to use the task killer as this was not needed.
Regarding your phone using juice when not being used, the X10 received an update because when the screen was locked, the phone was not going to 'sleep' the way it was supposed to and was over eating battery when not actually being used.
SE released an update for this which solved the problem, now I'm wondering if the Mini requires the same update.

OT: does anyone have barnacle wifi running on their mini/mini pro?
I'm having issues where it seems to go off (app still running but my ipad loses connection once the screen goes off) when the screen goes off. I disabled (and uninstalled) all power management apps.
Is there someone I'm missing?
Thanks!
