Haha, I don't think there is such a big difference, but Pixon is just a tad better indeed.
But, my Pixon was a final unit and my Satio a proto, so things may get a bit better for Satio |

Good comparison, Domipost. And a nice review, clear and simple. I like it that way.

Much as i love SonyEricsson i am actually starting to doubt weather they actually really do make the better camera phones or not.

Camera test: Satio vs Nikon D70S vs Sony Cybershot W180 vs Xperia X1i.
You be the judge.

I'm not buying those photo comparison anymore cause I've got the Innov8 which had been praised for the pic quality and yet and I'm not satisfied with the result.

As i expected pixon12 beats satio in details, but haven't you guys notice purple fringing on its samples?
And btw. i'm surprised at how Satio manages to pull a very decent fight against pixon. as i saw its first proto samples, the noise reduction is kicking too much details indication that it will be another C905 vs Innov8 vs Renoir scenario wherein C905 ranked last and worst. but on sandeep's blog we clearly see how Satio's Exmor beats W180's CCD in sharpness and detail. and i think the reason why Satio has underexposed output is because its lens is made of plastic! have they used Sony lens-G or any other sharper alternative lenses then it can pull a win.

Lens is so important. If they only made it a little bigger and out of real glass. Had a 1.2MP canon digicam that beated every early cheap 5MP cams.

It has nothing to do with the type of lens. It's a classic exposure trick to avoid getting the highlights blown out. Even Nikon DSLRs do the same.
The Minolta (G) lenses are some of the purest glass known to man and even a tiny one for the satio would cost as much as the phone itself. Even the so called "Carl-Zeiss" lenses in Nokia phones are nothing but branded pieces of plastic. |

I wouldn't go too far as to say it's the 'clear' winner. I think Satio gave Pixon a good fight and won some of those shots where Pixon looked overexposed and over saturated. Plus it's not a final retail unit and packs the bare essentials of a good imaging device, so it's probably a matter of getting it ready for the consumers and perhaps some cam version updates after that. I'm not the least bit disappointed tbh
