i think it looks fine. not as good as the m600 though. the w880 is a beauty in real life, and SE may have done the same thing with this... |

Anyone please know something about the CPU?? the video looks amazing and the device is quite fast according to it but I would really be interested to know the frequency of the CPU. I don't believe it's all in RAM. THX
I'm wondering about the same thing ...
Hi, that's becos the apps are already started and the P700 with so much free RAM memory, have been caching all apps in memory for fast switching over rather than re-starting them up from scratch.
Hi PerterKay, is it possible to try and do 2 demos; One using BootMan, start up as many apps as possible, and then browse around the menus and going into those applications that BootMan have already started. The 2nd, showing the phone in OFF mode, then booted up from the moment it is powered off-->on. And then start to browse around the menus and start those apps manually. Record the above 2 processes using your video cam too
The above 2 demos will show how important sufficient RAM memory is for these UIQ 3 devices cos the more RAM memory we have, the more apps we can start up and let them stay in the background for super fast switching (P700 of course, with 80MB RAM memory at boot time) vs not enough RAM memory, OS kills off apps automatically very so often and we have to manually re-start those apps again and again (cough...P990i... cough with only 17MB at boot time)... |

Truth is, most people dont need 20 apps running at same time, althogh is nice to have the option. I guess if the upgrade to symbian 9.3 puts the p990 with more than 20mb at boot, and no memory leaks, we will be more than ok untill the true successor comes

The RAM test on the P700 should give us info on what we can expect from the current crop of UIQ3 devices. If leaks exist the implications are massive.
The P700 wont have a problem as Adhnk said. |

well I know that the apps on the video are started. but also the switching is much faster. and I'm really curious if the CPU is the same and if all that speed is only based on RAM. |

Can it run skype? can it play videos from youtube directly without downloading the video? One guy mentioned that the price would be around $700.00 which is almost the same price as pocket pcs. IMO wIthout these features i mentioned above then this is too expensive for a phone with less features than pocket pcs. |

Btw... is it just me who thinks that a stylus on the left side is a bad solution? SE want you to hold the device in your left hand and use the stylus with your right, so why do they put the stylus on the left top part which is the most unconvenient location to put it. |

I'm used to that since having the M600 for a long time. what was unusual to me was on the k-jam and TyTN with the stylus coming out of the bottom of the right hand side!

As ares said, most users don't open 20 applications at a time. Most open 5-10 applications.I use media player, opera, agile, calender, contacts and couple of other apps running at a time.If SE can provide that with no more auto shutdowns, most will be happy.I must also add that the last firmware is very stable and improved the multitasking. And trusting ares, when P7 is launched, the firmware found in it will be available in P990.
So other than this, differences i found are...
+ points :Better cam,More RAM,Better battery
- points :No flip,Smaller screen,Half qwerty
Not worth an upgrade for P990 users IMO.

Yeah, it seems unusual but it actually is the best place for righthanded people I would say.
But you both say you can get used to it very quickly, so no hassel. |

The stylus seems bigger compared to M600, P990 and W950 IMO. can anybody confirm? |
