Mamba is here enjoying all the Nokia vs SE war going on.
I used to be a SE loyalist in the past, but I must tell you guys that it actually pays to try other products at times. You just might find out that SE is just not all that eventually.
IMO, HTC TS devices are much better than SE TS devices.
I'm still waiting for nokia TS |

You'll get your chance with touchscreen devices from Nokia soon. Nokia has integrated touchscreen functionality into s60 3rd edition. It will appear in handsets from 2008.

That Nokia 3555 is not s60 and is certainly not touchscreen. Plus it looks very uninspiring.
The SE PXi on the other hand oozes class and value on all sides! Gimme one of that!

Actually, I was most impressed by the LG device above. Even Steve Jobs will be impressed by this. |

"rant alert!!!!!!!!"
I have been watching the debate about SE and Nokia for sometime and I thought it is not worthwhile to argue about which one has "better" phones. However, I thought I should say this as someone who go for good phones irrespective of brands.
SE, Samsung and Motorola once took market shares from Nokia because Nokia lagged behind in introducing flip, cool and camera phones. But since Nokia wisened up, they have put others where they should have been. Phone for phone, Nokia beat any other manufacturer as things stand today. Arguing otherwise is to allow one's preference to cloud one's judgement.
Windows mobile phones are total minifits, they are powerful PDAs but awful phones. I currently keep an XDA2i as a backup phone in case any of my two regular phones get a problem. I sold an imate k-jam to purchase my SE P990 and inspite of all the iphone hypes, I shelled out my entire annual savings to buy nokia e90, the very week it became available in Nigeria! Windows mobile phones are too much of the same thing. Often shining silver plastics with no real keypad or some funny awkward keyboards that are useful when your phone has been put in some unnatural positions! Interface wise, all WM are the same boring thing with very little attempt at brand differentiation by all manufacturers.
The truth is many of us are not power users. How many people here use wifi, bluetooth, email, web, gps, camera etc on their phones regularly?
How many people here have programmes on their phones other a few games from some bored friends and websites? Why buy a smartphone when all you need is a dumbphone to make calls and send messages?
And a quick poll here!! When was the last time you took a picture with your fanciful camera phone? |

I absolutely agree witrh Aya, that PXi looks really classy, too bad its only a concept.
The LG also looks good, but seems rather fragile.
@Adrussa: I agree with you on some points, but I still maintain that I will get better value for my money from an SE phone compared to a Nokia of the same price. Smart or Dumb.
I regularly use my phone's Camera, MMS Bluetooth Dictionary, Bible and Instant Messenger.

I used my Camera at a wedding this weekend... I got a rare shot of my Granny and her identical Twin Sister. They are so alike that I can't tell them apart until they speak. Priceless.
But, I agree with you... I forget the camera most days of the week. |

Your personal opinion, adrusa.
I see a lot of differentiation in keyboard styles and manufacturers' and operators' customization. Among smarphones, the platform has more licensees(manufacturers) than any other platform. Give me your E90 anyday, I'll sell it to buy the HTC Tytn II, not minding the weight. ?My only complain is that generally WM devices are over priced relative to other smartphones.
Thank God Microsoft is planning to address this issue soon.?__________

While I have only ever played with one WM device, I have seen enough specs and reviews to say that there is a wide range of differentiation in features, performance and capabilities. No, they are not all the same. I bet that someone not used to Symbian s60 can also easilly say that all s60 devices are essentially the same - and be right in a sense, and absolutely wrong in another.
Unfortunately, the often absurd pricing of WM and Palm products will likely keep me from ever purchasing one of them. For much less, I can always pick a Symbian device that is just as (if not more) capable as any WM/Palm device.

Concerning BlackBerries, I browsed the net with one for about an hour today. I observed that it often went for mobile versions of most sites. The owner believes it is an MTN restriction to reduce data traffic since subcribers have unlimited data ceiling after paying the N5,000 monthly rental.
So this confirms that while Glo BB has a data traffic ceiling of 10 MB, MTN doesn't. But can Glo's BB browser access all sites? That's research for another day.
Happy weekend, all.

@ adrusa: the adobe photoshop on my computer is ripping at the seams with photos. There is hardly a day that i dont take a photo or a video of my son doing something crazy. Other times if i see a good nature shot like the sun rise i posted a few months back i snap away. I should have at least 3000 phone pics on my pc and backed up on discs. This ranges from photos taken with my t68i, t630, s700, p900 and my p990. |

Talking about WM phones, if rumours are anything to go by, SonyEricsson plan to announce a WM device in Q1 of 2008. Maybe that way, prices of WM based phones will become affordable.
Plus there's quite an array of phones to be announced on November 15th including the P3i
Yummy!!!
