Sapporo,
I couldn't get the P990 to work with the USB cable. I even tried the M600 and was not able to see either. I thought they were "mass storage" class devices.
As for transfer speed, my needs are probably limited but BT seems to work fine. At least, I don't need to re-save everything like I used to with the good old P900. |

I know supposedly there is a guy in this forum, "floatlite", that says it is possible to make the P990 and M600i visible in Finder. Funny thing though, SE says that it is not possible, so how this guy gets it work is beyond me, or he is just a liar. I think the later. Also when I press him to provide info he seems to disappear or does not answer his PM, but he shows up in different threads.
Anyway, go over to: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3385457#3385457 and have a look at the threads regarding SE and their support for the M600i and subsequently P990. I am putting my M600i up on ebay and getting a Nokia E61. I am not playing SE's game anymore. I hope they hit a really bad spot and people jump ship for the competitors. Maybe then they will listen to consumers.

I'm thinking of buying a Macbook, but one major thing that makes me unsure is whether or not there is a good OS X option to the terrific MyPhoneExplorer for Windows. Any good recommendations? |

Hi, does anyone know of a modem script that works with a K800i. I want to connect to the internet with my powerbook G4 through o2 in the uk. I can do it really slowly with a R520 script, but have been unable to get any 3g scripts to work. Have tried most of the scripts from taniwa. |

@afd67,
www.noavmedia.de.
You have to purchase it but it is the best product I have seen.

Have tried that thanks, it worked but thought that 50 quid seems a bit steep for something that apple or SE should have supplied with the phone or OS. My Palm TX can connect to the the internet through K800 without any additional software.

No worries but I am a bit curious why you feel that Apple should supply you with what you need to connect considering the staggering amount of phones on the market. That is like saying Apple should produce the drivers for HP printers, of drivers for the different monitors on the market. Apple follows published industry standards. It is up to the others, i.e. SE to adhere to them. Second, considering the amount of GSM operators and their specific settings, it would be impossible for Apple to keep up. This is where Novamedia comes in. They did the work and are simply charging or it.

I did say SE or Apple should supply the drivers. My Palm TX has drivers that came with the device and are I think for a K700 and seem to work with a K800. Maybe I was spoiled when i first got a Titanium PB and it came with drivers for a R520m, which I had at the time. I we live in a windows world and it is a bonus if a device comes with drivers for mac, but it gets frustrating at times.
I don't have a problem paying for useful software I bought Novamedea's iSync plugins and Clicker for my phone, would rather put up with a slow connection than spend £50 on another driver.
Bring on the iPhone?

Hey Don,
If you still have your M600, a user in the forum on my site has posted partial instructions on how to get the phone to mount via USB. It's actually done using info already on my site! I can't test without the phone however.
Have a read here:
http://mobile.feisar.com/foru[....]cgi?fid=13&topic_id=1162652158
and the info on my site: http://mobile.feisar.com/cable.html
Let me know if it works for you.

@afd67,
The M600i is my last SE phone. I have reached the point where I can and will no longer deal with SE. Nokia phones my lack character but they are supported under Mac OS X. I will probably get the N95 when it is launched. I am sure that it will work with iSync right out of the box.

Is it just me, or does the USB connectivity of K750s still randomly crash the Finder (running on a MacBook under 10.4.8 )?
This gave me grief before (on a G4 macmini), but at the time I used the K750 grabber to resolve the issues, which by the way is on PPC code so I have no idea if this will work under Intel CPUs (rosetta and all, but since it's a kext driver it might end up causing all sorts of other problems).
Anyone?

I think it's really up to the phone maker to provide drivers. Palm provided them with your T|X, right? The ball is in SE's court. We Mac folks usually have to rely on independent developers for programs like a phone browser or modem script. A quick search on VersionTracker.com turned up nothing so I guess we're waiting for SE to pick up on Mac support. Personally, I'm not holding my breath. This is exactly why I keep a ThinkPad lying around the house. If I want to update the firmware on my Blackberry then I need a computer that runs Windows. There are lots of little bothersome reasons to keep a Windows box around, darn few to make me use one on a regular basis. What does encourage me is that the Mac is starting to see some third-party solutions for phones. PocketMac has a great version of their connectivity software for Blackberries and Macs. They included support for Entourage, plus all the usual navive Mac apps like AddressBook, iCal, etc. Now if we could get something like this for SE phones it could be the beginning of a partnership or co-branding deal. It might just have legs! |

@rambo47,
I will make this sooooo easy for you.
SE is not interested in supporting the Mac OS X or any Mac platofrm. Pure and simple. They have stated it, so do not look to SE for support.

Yeah, I wasn't really expecting it, just musing on how nice it would be for us Mac users. I'm pretty used to getting no support and being pleasantly surprised when it pops up. |
