@iamsteve, the ray can play other formats beside mp4, using the right app... but sometimes it's just a waste of storage space and taxes the CPU/battery.
I usually convert vids I wanna watch on the go. My personal fav converter is the free Handbrake program for Mac/PC

Thanks jplacson and emporium, much appreciated! I was liking the 16:9 display ratio as well as the idea of Bravia Engine. Will have to have a proper play around with it and see I guess.
Wave is a great phone but not sure about Bada, would like to stick to Android for convenience (keep same apps etc). Really I have been holding out for a Mini Pro successor (hoping they would manage to make the next one more slimline) but looks like that aint happening
Cheers again! |

@iamsteve, I came from an X10 Mini Pro, and was so excited when the Xperia Mini Pro came out. But when I actually saw the ray, I forgot all about the Mini Pro. The ray is MUCH smaller (volume-wise) and easier on the pocket. The screen size is way better. And with Swype (the built in gesture input isn't as good) I have no need for the hardware keyboard anymore. And on 4.0, Voice input is much more reliable and actually practical to use in the car.

Just got mine back from the service center. 1.5 weeks. Was back to my old X10 Mini Pro... wow... I got spoiled w/ 4.0 the few days that I had it before my phone died. (Main board got fried some how, thankfully still under warranty)
Xperia ray performs so much better under 4.0 ... I was able to ditch quite a few apps thanks to the new features of ICS.
Performance is improved (at least from what I've observed over GB) and battery lasts a couple of hours longer.

I'm happy with the ICS update as well.
Once in a while it hangs.
I think another update will solve all the issues and make it perfect for Ray.

Offline, if you go to the Settings>Developer Options... there a setting to turn on ANR dialog box, this will show you all apps that are hanging and give you the option to shut them down. You'd be surprised at how much less ICS hangs when you can shut down offending background apps (Viber and Talk hang a lot on me in the background)

its really sad, bonovox.
to add to it, the aluminum frame got scratched and dents were evident. a very small part was missing on the lower right side.
i was thinking how can it break - aluminum is a strong material |

Aluminium is not strong, some alloys are, question is which one is built in, broken frame and fried board are extreme faults, what has led to it? |

my broken frame was caused by dropping my phone in a pile of rocks. shoulder-level drop.
a small portion was torn in the lower left part. you can tell that something was "missing" especially if you put the back cover |
