Salam everyone, I wanted to ask about a hadith. I am not sure if it is true or not so some help would be appreciated.
I was told that Allah destroys a community of Muslims who were not a bad bunch of people at all. The reasons for this were that they were only doing their 'basic' duties of fasting and praying and not working for the Ummah by doing Da'wa for example. I was told this hadith by some guys who are more politically motivated which is why I want to be sure. I didn't know how to respond to these people because I never heard of this hadith. If it is true how should I interpret this?

I think I may have heard the hadith you are referring to but I cannot find a reference to it. I am sure that when I was told it, the people were totally ignoring what was around them - so all the bad deed, shirk etc... What I got out of it was the fact that da'wa and working for the Ummah in general is part of our duties as Muslims... But this was under the context that a being a good Muslim is working for the Ummah in itself - and this means not ignoring wrong doing etc... Also, Da'wa comes in many forms - so even a smile can be considered an act of Da'wa to a non believer and an act of charity to a believer etc...
