Ericsson, Swedish co-owner (50%) of SonyEricsson announced today that they are doing less well on the market and the stock rate was down about 24-25% this morning in Sweden (about 10B Euro).
Yeasterday they announced the 50% selling of the UIQ to Motorola. I believe this is just another sale for keeping the cash flow balance and shows as well that the strategy for UIQ failed from SonyEricsson as the UIQ was bought just about 1 year ago.

Mobilebee now has an estimated release date for this phone for early November. Hopefully it will be with us before Christmas.

inwarehouse.se sent me a confirmation email 3 days ago about my order that states "2007-11-26". Their site still says 3rd December. I dont know which one is more recent but both dates are fortunately this year =) |

Inwarehouse is always quite optimistic about the release date of things. Just don't trust them
Seriously, will this phone even appear? In november SE will probably introduce phones that are more interesting with HSDPA and stuff. Unfortunately I think this one is too late and is already outdated. I like it, but probably wont buy it.

SE bought UIQ to keep the pace up in development. Already then they announced that they didn't want to be the only owner of UIQ. So this was only a logical step in the development of the company. |

Sorry, didn't read the whole topic, it took just took me hours to do the topic of PeterKay. I'll have some questions regarding the W960i, so maybe you could help me (I also posted this in PeterKay's topic)...
1) How about the battery life? How much can you use the phone when using the regular functions normally, but with 2 hours music listening a day?
2) I understand it doens't have an accelerometer (strange that the "cheapier" models have it), but is it possible to set the phone to horizontal mode manually? Seems a rather logical function since the other phones can do that, and they are not even touch sensitive
3) I see it doesn't have any protection of the camera-lens?
4) I don't see any photos taken with the W960i on PeterKay's site. Can anybody upload some? Or does anybody know whether there are some photos on the web already?
5) Peter says the display is very nice. But compared to the K850i on GSMarena it doesn't look good at all:
6) Less important: A comparison photo of the W960i and K750i would be great!
Thank you very much in advance! |

The W960 had a protective plastic glued on the screen.
Nobody can access the screen quality like that. |

On screen quality i would rather trust someone who has seen it first hand that a picture of two phones like that, impossible to assess quality from that as previous poster stated. |

I spoke to a Vodafone representative yesterday and he confirmed that the W960i will ship December 9th (Sony Ericsson had informed Vodaone of this)- whether that includes all networks I do not know but at least we have a confirmed date now.
Can't wait for this phone!! |

I guess you can't compare as K850i was meant for Cybershot and W960i was for Walkman. Definitely SE will make K850i outstanding and visible in terms of display whereas W960i will be the audio quality.
But I do observed that W960i in the picture seems to have a plastic cover it screen or rather the plastic screen protector not crystal clear type....

Is that for a Vodafone custom/branded version? If so then the generic device should be available earlier.. |

Just a simple question;
when you are writing an sms, how do you change words when you get several choices? It's easy and quick to change word on my w810. You just press the arrow down.
Is it as easy to do this at the W960i?

And to go into that: How does that handwire recognition work? If I write something down, the system will recognize it en convert it into digital characters? And does this really work fluently? |
