@amby: what is the min usage on celtels post paid? Im considering switching over to them as im getting tired of mtn's erratic and expensive gprs.
P990 UPDATE:
What kind of speeds do SE require for thier update service. Was at a friend's cafe and tapped into his wifi hotspot but i still couldnt make an update after an hour! His system wasnt loaded so it could be local bandwidth. Who has done it and how long did it take? |

@abu: I updated my W950 firmware earlier this month. It took about 35 to 40 minutes on an average speed broadband connection at the office. After downloading the software I hesitated for about 5 minutes before proceeding with the update proper which lasted 18 to 20 minutes.
As I stated sometime ago the only improvement is this misplaced question mark that shows up everytime I press the return key on the virtual keyboard. Funny thing only shows up after I submit my post.
This is my second experience updating; my first was in 2004 when I updated my K700 firmware in a cyber cafe with very fast broadband connection. Again, improvements were minimal. Not worth the effort put into it. So, abu you may be better off without an update.

I thought i was the only one browsing celtel for free since saturday night.
I dont think their cc knows anything about their gprs connections, i called them to configure a colleague's phone, they said their gprs is down, when i told them that mine is working, they said they will not be held responsible for any charges on my credit, well i didnt tell them that i was browsing for free! |

@brym: are u sure the problem u have wasnt when u backed up ur phone b4 u updated? Does it only effect online texts or does it effect sms etc too?Have u made a complaint at thier support site? If i were u i wouldnt just take it. I am ok with my phone as is but sometimes when i forget to close some apps and have 7 or 8 things running simultaneously it gets a bit sketchy.
@all: i have resigned buying a new watch till the SE MBW 150 comes into range. If im lucky my wife will get me one for my birthday. |

@angel: if thier cc actually said they wont be held liable for charges they must be joking! Its naija factor that makes them feel they can get away with it, but they havent bitten the right people. A few weeks back at starcomms' data clinic a disgruntle subscriber was threatening everything from EFCC, NCC, ICPC, Ministry of Comms, BPE.... I weak!! The only thing he didnt threaten was God's fire and brimstone and it seemed he had his own that he was gonna bring. |

I never back up my phone before an update because I enjoy reinstalling all apps and data afterwards. So far, the bug only shows up when posting.

I don't intend to make one because from other from users' experience, it is a waste of time.

That is a RAM problem, nothing can be done about that; just use the task manager to close some apps. In other words, don't leave too many apps running. You can download swiss manager.

@brym: i know its a ram issue, i just hoped the update would assist in managing the apps, intuitively closing those that could be closed or something. The worst part is if im using a heavy app, say opera, with a few smaller apps on, if i need to quickly use my camera, the opera is automatically shut down even if im in the middle of something while Messages, pictures or the media player that dont have anything to lose remains!

@Abu Am afraid,like Brym said its a ram issue.You will continue to experience such even with the latest updates.except SE decides to release another (new) update-of which i doubt will happen.The only solution is to open few applications at the same time or if you can afford it - get the P1,its got loads of ram and you can open several applications, all without any hitch. |
