Ericsson demonstrates for the first time GPRS mobile phone (16.02.2000)
During the GSM world congress in Cannes Ericsson will demonstrate an executable GPRS net, whereby as terminal a mobile prototype is used, which supports both GSM and GPRS (general pack radio service). The GPRS mobile phone was built into the housing of a R320s-WAP-Mobile, Ericsson stressed however that future GPRS mobile phones, which should be available starting from the first quarter 2001 in numbers of items will be based on another Design.

What about the software and the start-up animation?

Some protos had a modified start-up animation, like the T20 had a Esther-greeting (Esther was the internal name of the T20) or the TEMS-handsets also have a modified start-up with a TEMS-greeting.

@bucheral:
You have truely found something special. I think many collectors would like to see this phone in their collection (just like me . As I recall I have only seen this phone on some press fotos from Ericsson but never at anyone's collection.

If you're interested in collecting Ericsson cell phones, just visit www.e-zones.net . I sometimes offer rarities and prototypes that I already have in my collection. These phones can be found by login in with a blank username and >*<<*<* as password.
