On the issue of MTN:
I am really surprised at how long it is taking them to fix their network quality. In times past, they usually fixed things in 1-2 months. But the current crisis has lasted for over 3 months now.

I find it easier to call an MTN line with a Glo line than with an MTN line. The quality is another matter. Even mid-night chats with my fiancee is impossible on MTN. It keeps tripping off and we can't hear each other. Glo on the other hand is manageable.

MTN is playing with fire. Soon the millions who own both Glo and MTN lines will make Glo their primary network. As of today, I can live without my MTN line but I gotta have my Glo ALL day.

I am trying not to sound to dapsyish.

@all Since no one bothered to post anything: Happy Independence Day to you all! May God never make us be like Nigeria when we get to 47!

By now, you should know its no use welcoming Demmy. He pops in and then takes a trip for another 6 months

Like brym! said to him, "See you next year?"

Back to MTN wahala, we cant blame them. They are in it for the money. The onus rests with our N C C. If they fail to protect us we need to hold them accountable. When thieves come to ur compound do you blame them or the police who refuse to patrol after 6 pm?

My attitude towards the Networks has been "use the useable" When MTN isn't giving me the satisfaction I require, I switch to Glo. My Celtel remains permanently on in my M600 (for data access mostly) and voice calls if the network is ok. You guys should emulate me and stop complaining. These service providers know that when the network quality is bad they will lose revenue. So let them feel the impact of poor service delivery by not using their services.

@brym & amby...which version of opera mini are you guys talking about-opera mini 3, opera mini 4 beta or amby's fabulous version. Tell us what "Rocks" mean.

I use the Naija Version of the russian mod.
It rocks on UIQ3 because of the touchscreen and its excellent navigation. Access to and interaction with the phone's OS is flawless and time saving. multiple web page browsing is a breeze. The speed is good too. I'm yet to see a better browser for handheld devices. (And I have used quite a few)

You don't need prayer. That may be a very good time to browse (especially if the pastor is not talking about giving to the needy)!

Haba! but you too are a pastor ke?

@amby: You must download the latest version of Gdesk (v.14d). Go to http://gdesk.wetpaint.com/page/GDesk+versions. It has option to change icons and you can also see some real coooool UI designs to load to your device.

Excellent question. If I purchased an iPhone, I'd be regretting it under 30 minutes of usage. Of course, I know there'll always be people who'd love the Apple toy to the death. Cool phone; but that's just it. Nothing more than that.

Anyone with news on 3G on any of the GSM networks? Celtel once again shifted date of activating GPRS on all lines.

my only problem with the iphone is lack of 3g and a2dp(which i use extensively)..and its a bit overpriced since its only available yankee for $399 and in london it costs between £300-400 for 8gb since there is no 3g in nig its an excellent phone...i used to be skeptical about it till i played with one...i was so impressed i went to buy one and this is my first apple product i never owned an ipod since my w900 and w950i did better jobs....so im telling u guys it is not a hype the phone is really good..if it was nokia or sony ericsson that made this product it would be an instant classic..i was gonna get a w960i but its taking too long to come out since i needed a phone immediately...dont knock it till u try it

@mariwun: na wa o, you already have W900 & W950 and you still went for the iphone? You and areafada na the same...N93, N95 and E90.
My new criteria for smartphones are:
slimfit (less than 16mm),
light (less than 120g),
music-centrtc (with more than 2gb mem)
big screen (min of 2.6" & 320x240 pixel display),
finally, a great bargain price.
So you already know my next phone:
yes, a bug free W960 in...em 18 months time.

You haven't told us exactly what it is good at. Most of us here are smartphone power users. The iPhone may have a sleek interface, but it certainly falls short in many things I use my smartphone for. That's why it holds no real attraction for me. I'm not knocking it - its just not for me.
