all this numbering labeling makes you wonder:
tablet z1 or tablet z2?
z1 mini or z2 mini and what about mini, is it really "mini" or other word?
z2 ultra?
z1s for z1 successor, really?
will they keeping labeling with numbers in 10 years? like z11?
1-2 months for 3 major devices and there are few rumors. sony is doing good, but not good for this forum. |

just reading xperia blog post about the new benchmarks... they call the phone in the big picture "z1s". it's obviously not the z1s cause z1s (sirius) if the rumors are true should have thinner bezels (i guess like xperia z).

I think Sony hired the military to watch over people coming out of their facilities. CES is less than a month away and we haven't got solid leaks about what their next devices are, far from Z1's very early premature leaks.

If the rumor is true, Xperia "sirius" is going to be Z2. Z1s is just a refresh of Z1

you misunderstood. the rumors say that xperia sirius is the z1 refresh (with the thinner bezel and slightly larger display) and will be announced at CES/MWC - "probably at MWC". "march release in docomo japan".

I'm not sure what is your point. let's say the phone in the pic is "z1s" - the z1 refresh. Do you think that sony is going to announce z1 refresh - "z1s" at CES and a month later announce the "z2" at MWC? won't happen. or maybe i didn't understand you?

There isnt info. about a release of Z2 in MWC. It was speculation from Android Authority. According to RBMen.blog, Sirius, might debut in march and only in Japan (I didnt find any word about MWC release in RBM blog) .If that is true, Sony might launch the Z2 in April-May to the Globlal Market, something like Sony did (or is going to do) with Z1f (Japanse release - Oct, Global release - Jan). Just my opinion, I am not insider 
According with Maia "Z1s will be with the New 805 sd". Nothing More (No bigger and better screen, better camera (?) and so on, Bigger changes that should come with a higher number -Z2,Z3,Etc- Thats Why, "Sirius" "Z2", Whatever.... is the 5.2"Phone, not Z1s that comes with the same design and Screen size of Z1)
To me, Z1s is more like a Chinese/Carrier phone or.... Is sony trying to keep the hype of Z1 till April-June 2014? Who knows

I understand you now. what i think is:
my logic says that they are definitely not going to skip CES and MWC without a Z1 successor announcement. the recent past support that - since xperia s if i'm not mistaken. sony is not in the position of samsung. they want to make a buzz sooner then later, about every half a year. in february (MWC) it's about half a year from IFA. announcement time. rumors here also support that. they will want to roll 64 bit processor as soon as possible - it's a spec war. so for that, they need to release a refresh z1 (805, 5.2" IPS - for criticism of the z1 display, smaller bezel, etc.) and at IFA release 64 bit with 4GB, new design, etc. - more substantial change. just like Z at CES and Z1 at IFA.

I wonder when the new USB standard will be ready to go and I wonder when we'll see the first Sony phones using it. Does Sony have any part in the decision making process for USB?
Would be amazing if it was somehow waterproof so that ports never had to be covered |
