yea i did, it shouldnt be private i have the HD verson on my PC i didnt want to put in on youtube if you guys want it up ill put it there: http://www.dailymotion.com/vi[....]oghdblogit-x10-preview-eng_fun

i hope that all, ALL of you realise that this back and forth isnt helping. Think about it, its obviously cyclical. Seal just post what you have to say, dont argue for no productive reason, its not worth it. i dont know what it is they want, but youve provided the most information and pictures in the thread. i cant defend name calling and rudeness though, its just inappropriate for the board. stick to bashing phones, not ppl.

everyone is coming off immature here, stop asking him to not complain, thats his right, seal no need for the hate, were all here for our desire for SE to do well, and supply our wants, the X10 has done that. android 2.0 is coming if SE doesnt do it, their drivers will still be avail for you to install A2.0 and utilize the APIs how you see fit, the hardware is unsurpassed.

SE X10
Nokia N900
HTC HD2/Dragon
Motorola Droid

thats the list, thats it 4 phones out of thousands a year, it will be dominant. I gotta say that the qualms i have now with the device are personal (of course) but that i can take care of them on my own, the platform is really whats golden here, and im excited to be on the front line with everyone else.

Ah looks like the speed increases every time we see a new video which is a good thing!
And the screen looks beautiful.
Still not sure about the charger flap at the top. From previous experiences they get loose and don't stick so well after a certain amount of time.
Landscape typing will be included yes?

in all likelihood it will be shared ram/rom, the protos/dev units we've seen show 256/284mb of ram used.

Really? Based on what? Your view of a high spec phone?

Nokia N900 is not an Android phone. If it sells in large numbers (for a smartphone, which is not many compared to feature phones or low end phones) it'll be because it has 'NOKIA' written on it, not because of the Maemo platform. Nokia have been unsuccessful in getting S60 to take off as a viable app platform (Apple proved that) I doubt Maemo will be any different. Nokia smartphone customers seldom want smartphone features, strangely. Surveys have shown that most S60 owners don't know their phone has an OS in it. N900 won't be much different.

HTC are not a top 5 handset manufacturer. Their offerings has gained traction lately for the simple reason that there were no competing Android phones from the top 5 handset manufacturers. Now that Motorola, and LG are in the game, watch the HTC models get forgotten about.

The Droid should do well but don't forget about the Cliq/DEXT. They are cheaper and should sell well. Just because a phone isn't the ultimate high-end model it shouldn't be written off.

The market challenge now is to provide the best user experience and update it regularly with new features ala iPhone firmware updates. clearly have this sussed because they call their smartphones Xperia, their UI is called User Xperience and they have already indicated updates to Android 2.0 and supported features. Have we had this level of confirmation of future upgrades from Moto, HTC and LG?

are making all the right noises and the videos show an awesome device with a class-leading, future proofed processor. What is there to criticise really? All we need now is a product launch. Roll on February.

1) I would consider HTC a top 5 smartphone manufacturer. They are doing wonderful things with their customizations to Windows Mobile AND Android. They will NOT be forgotten about. Their Sense UI is a differentiator amongst other Android handsets.

2) HTC has also committed to an Android 2.0 update for their HTC Hero phones which currently run Android 1.6. Motorola also already has Android 2.0 and will continue to update the Droid because Verizon is pushing this phone as an iPhone competitor. Sony Ericsson has something to prove here because they have a questionable history when it comes to upgrading capable platforms with the next iteration of an OS (read X1 + WM6.5).

HTC are a top 5 smartphone manufacturer but smartphones are only a small part of the overall market. I believe , LG, Samsung and Motorola will be successful in shifting a significant portion of their mid and high end feature phone market into smartphones and that will be at HTC's expense. Up until mid 2008 I was a happy mid to high end feature phone owner but now I'm a smartphone owner. Many people like me are wanting to access the extra functionality of apps, browse and read email/social media updates on their phone but we're price conscious and are waiting for the right device. Moto Cliq is a very good start.

Sense UI is an Android fragmenter not a differentiator. Moto and can get away with this sort of thing because the market is used to feature phones with different (proprietary) UI's but it's not good for the Android platform as a whole to have the OS fragmented in this way - it puts off developers who are needed to create the apps which give a platform the critical mass to become successful.

As far as I know, Palm are the only ones who have actually provided a full (iPhone style) OS update with WebOS 1.3.1
For a minute there I thought you called WM a capable platform.

A good blog about platforms and what makes them successful here.

@cark you took my statement way out of context. it was an illustration as to which phones announced/shipping now that are direct competitors to the X10, and these phones represent the best that the telecomm industry is willing to build and sell, and that there are only a handful of them. so within that, the satisfaction of the state of the X10 shouldnt be so carelessly forgotten/ignored/remissed.

Buddy,

I agree that we should highlight any disadvantages, but there's really no need to be feisty.
your comments could be true, but we should reserve the latest judgment until we try the handset "in person" when it gets launched on Feb 2010.
