Yesterday I got my M600i and so far I am absolutely happy with the device. Great form factor !

So far there is one remaining question only:

Currently I defined two different internet accounts. One for browsing the WEB/WAP and one for internet access e.g. to check my mail box via IMAP. With my K750i it was possible to assign one internet connection to the mail client and the other to the browser.
Does anybody know how does this works with M600i ?

In general I would be make sense to have one internet connect only, but currently I need the two. One for browsing and one for mail. I don't know why.

Thanks,

Matthias

On the M600 how do you move or navigate horizontally (left and right), for example in a game or in a grid of options?

Hello everyone! I am a newcomer to Esato..

I find that most M600 bugs, including the 'low battery' one, are eliminated when phone is in 3G coverage area..

@Avantis

Welcome

Well your point on teh M600 is interesting, as I have 3G coverage at home and at work and 80% of the journey from home to work. Also this weekend when I took my family to the lovely city of Oxford (England) I had 3G coverage again most of the time. But I have also found a second reflash (with a fully charged battery) and a Master Reset later also seems to improve stability and the speed of starting the web app.

I got the M600i 3 days ago, I'm a sony ericsson user since the very first model and still have 3 models z600, w550i and P900. As sony ericsson is promoting the M600i as a buisness phone, they have left out an important feature that was very useful in the P900 (Search all fields) under contacts. This is not present with the new operating system.

I hope they add it in a new update soon.

@amr999 If you click on contacts and then click more go to activesync and you will find contact search in there, this wil only work if you have an activesync account setup.

I have identified two major problems that SE need to address with this phone :

1. 'Low battery' indication which in my view is network and / or sim card related. This indication appears upon reception of a call or imediately after dialling a number. The phone then shuts off...As i saidearlier the phone behaves better in 3G coverage areas.

2. Slowness in introducing the web application.

It is a pity, as this has the potential of being one of the best phones around (form factor, OS..)
I prefer it over Nokia E61 which i have owned for sometime now, but this particular Nokia is exremely stable...and cheaper..

Some personal views :

1. SE are'paving' the way for P990 by plunging M600 too early into the market

2. Loyalty to a brand, and here there is loads of it, should be rewarded by a manufacturer, by providing top quality products on a continuous basis to its loyal customers..This is the very essence of being succesful in the market place..This has nothing to do with Nokia or SE..

3. How should one feel before going out to splash another Euro 800 on a P990 or N93? Will they be stable and ready to use or it does not really matter to the manufacturers?

4. I am an avid cellphone user / buyer. But all the latest developments are changing the way I view mobile phones right now..why buy aK800? It is marginally better than K750. Why should one buy a N93? Surely it will only be matrginally better than an N90..It feels as though these companies are making their money on our haste to rubberstamp their marginally better new phones...

5. I got my K750 out of the drawer today and I am making myself love it again..I tell you guys, this is not too difficult!!

Jah - how much difference in terms ot startup time to the web app did the master reset make? Don't suppose you could give an indication in terms of time to start the web app from the M600 becoming functional after a cold boot for example?
Just wondering whether it is that much different that its worth the master reset?

I have timed my phone (each time after a cold boot) and the time between clicking the web icon in the menu and the browser loading (I stopped timing as soon as the browser had loaded the start page) is always around 45-50 seconds. Be interesting to see how much quicker it is on yours at the moment.

..and another thought.

It is absolutely ludicrous that you can get your gmail acount rto work easily on the K750 and not on your M600, which after all is promoted as a messaging device!

@sleepyhead,

re: web app start times:

1. After first flash wit the latest firmware: 60 seconds
2. After second reflash with same firmware (but charged battery): 30 second
3. After a master reset: within 2 seconds (same start-up as other apps now) Note: I did not restore 'Settings' from the back-up

Thanks for your reply on using activesync to search contacts, but in this case you need a server to wirelessly contect to it. It is not the same to sync from your contact list and have the ability to search without having an account as you stated.

Interesting. Might try a master reset late today and report back.

EDIT:

Have now performed a master reset and set everything back up again and would you believe the web browser now consistently starts within a couple of seconds. Have to say the master reset was well worth the pain of getting the web browser starting almost instantly now. Cheers Jah for the tip.

You should test to use the opera java app. Its actually faster and better than the built in opera. Altough it misses the ability to have multiple pages open.
