Anyone know how to connect EDGE from xperia x10 to mac osx?

I changed the settings from no animation to full animation and the phone is way fast and snappy, that's a good thing

Does PDANet or Easytether not have MAC desktop versions for tethering?

F**k!
My X10 has suddenly stopped notifying sms and email with sound, only vibration.
The ring tone works.
It also makes calls by it self and sending multiple sms with days in between.
I use handcent and the default email client for gmail.
I updated the phone to 2.1 two weeks ago and 2 days ago this things started.

Anybody else who is experiences strange behaviour?

Hmm.. On the 2.1 update... Have noticed that my top notification bar keeps disappearing every now and then for no reason and then doesnt seem to come back until phone is restarted. Any one noticed this?

You are using ADW.Launcher. Disable the option which when you swipe up hides statusbar. It should be in options.

Thanks. Missed that option. Losing the notification bar was annoying.

@mange69 - I had a similar problem, I had to re-set the notification sounds. Custom notification sounds work different in 2.1 too. The Folders on the SD card are arranged differently. Place the files in /sdcard/audio/alarms OR /sdcard/audio/notifications OR /sdcard/audio/ringtones respectively. They used to go in the media folder.
I have a dig bick

Tnx!

I found the sound issue. Something or someone (me?) must have turned notification sound off under the regular phone settings. The slide was set to 0, but I don't know how. The rest of the problems with auto call/sms is still annoying.

Work Ongoing on Pinch Zoom for Xperia X10

Even though the focus of this blog at this point is mostly on the Android 2.1 update of the X10 family I have something else I would like to share with you.
There has also been lots of rumors around this and I just want to clarify what we’re working on and what to expect.
(I will continue posting information on the current SW-update roll-out after this!)

As many of you know, just before the release of the Xperia X10 we saw lots of discussions around any potential support for multi touch.
Myself and Sumit were then very clear on the fact that there were no plans of having X10 supporting multi touch and said so here on this blog mainly to not have you guys hoping for things that just wasn’t planned.

Since then, because of the huge reaction to this and the real desire for multi touch expressed by you the users, there has been lots of investigations going on and I now have some good news to disclose. We aim to enable multi touch (pinch zoom) in an over-the-air update for the X10. The timing for this update is still a bit work in progress but it will for most markets be during Q1 next year.

What has happened is that some brilliant engineers actually was able to change the driver and firmware for the touch digitizer to make some multi touch gestures work. We are still working on perfecting the user experience and I will keep you updated as work progresses.

I also want to be clear on what to expect from this feature. The digitizer in the X10 is not perfect when it comes to multi touch, there will as an example be situations like when the movement of the two fingers cross each other on the X- or Y-axis that could cause strange behavior. (There has been much online debating around what is “good” and “bad” Multi Touch in competitor phones and this is following the same lines.)

Therefore we also will not enable it everywhere but the current plan is to enable it for the following use-cases:
- Pinch/Zoom in the web browser.
- Pinch/Zoom in Google Maps.

Besides that there is also support in third party applications but because of the limitations on e.g. crossing axis there might be situations where it behaves strangely while it will work just fine for most use-cases.
The support is basically for gestures like pinch/zoom so don’t expect e.g. multi touch gaming with buttons pressed simultaneously on different parts of the screen to work.
Let me know if you have specific multi touch enabled apps you want me to test!

Below is a video where I show some of the use-cases and what to expect on a prototype SW in my X10.

Good, I'll be waiting.
Meanwhile I read an interesting topic over at xperiax10.net forums.
First off, Isn't the hardware for the touchscreen similar to the other brands? HTC, Samsung, etc.? If so, those phone also have multi-touch, but SE doesn't. The problem may be related to the fact that Apple have the trademark "Multi-Touch". They want to keep that unique to them, and other brand may already comply to them, i.e. paying them an amount for having mt capable. Sony Ericsson, however, doesn't want to come under the Apple banner and believes that multi-touch should be available for all capable devices without paying a fee to use it. Which makes sense because Sony sold many devices, which would like to incoporate multi-touch into them. They would have to then pay a huge amount of money just to sell multi-touch capable devices to Apple, Inc. I heard there is an lawsuit going on. Sony might win, they might lose, either way, Sony definitely wants to sell mt capable devices. The might get that freedom, or bitterly pay Apple to do it.

This newly limited multitouch from SE would be a way for SE to beat around the bush and not call it multitouch outright. just the tip of the iceberg for any upcoming changes. I myself would love to have full multitouch on my Xperia x10, but I have also been satisfy without it.

Assuming what I think is correct, but I'm also taking it with a grain of salt. I dunno if what I read are entirely true or not, but multi-touch is a trademark with Apple, Inc, it's a fact, so it's make that much more believable.

I also feel like preaching to the choir, since many of you here may already know of this, but I just notice this recent, so want to share my thoughts.

btw, if anyone having trouble with MMS on their 2.1 firmware, do try APNdroid, via Android Market.
