One thing I must say for sure: Battery last much longer after update to 2.1.
Other things that I like:
Strong GPS signal
Very good WiFi signal
It's much faster and very stable
I am very happy that I changed my Satio for X10!!!

Hmm.. On the 2.1 update... Have noticed that my top notification bar keeps disappearing every now and then for no reason and then doesnt seem to come back until phone is restarted. Any one noticed this?

You are using ADW.Launcher. Disable the option which when you swipe up hides statusbar. It should be in options. |

I think my battery lasts shorter. I experience that the screen uses more batt although I have decreased the screen light to 50%. I don't use Live Wallpaper. Overall it uses more batt when I use it. Now it barelly lasts for a day.
I also thinks it's laggy. I have disabled parts of the animations. The keyboard seems to react slowly at first and the vibration on the keyboard is very weak.
Otherwise I'm very pleased with the update.

If the battery last shorter, I think there must be some apps that cause it. As I said before, when I feel the battery last shorter (you will notice when the battery drop quickly for no reason) and the phone is laggy, I check the cpu usage with system monitor and there is one apps that highly using the cpu. The cpu should not run 100% all the time. If it is, then surely the phone will be laggy and drain the battery.
After I kill that apps, now the phone runs very smoothly, fast and fluid and the battery last longer up to 2 days with heavy usage.
Other thing that I like about the update is the way the proximity sensor work. Now the screen will go blank the moment you put the phone to your ears and the screen will come back when you remove the phone from your ears and you can touch the screen without double tap.
Another thing, I like the in-call screen. There are a lot of function that you can invoke during a call easily such as speaker phone, turning bluetooth on and off and others. |

Yeah it's a pretty positive review. Despite its shortcomings, its a great device. Now we'll have to wait and see what the subsequent update brings, which has been pushed back to Q1 btw..which probably means end of march:-P

So I have the long awaited Xperia X10 and can't use it. Isn't that something? And it is a shame Sony Ericsson prevents using the phone without a SIM?
I have not found a way to get my AT&T Xperia unlocked. I had to cancel one site and now I am trying another. Sigh...don't make me regret this...I was so tempted to get the Captivate instead lol...

cellunlocker.net. I probably could've given them the 1-3 day period but I got mad and asked for a refund. Now I am trying unlocking.com

Did the xda thread I pointed you to before help? I've seen there are a number of positive stories. Most of them take a couple days to do a code up though. I read www.unlock-sony.com works but as I said before I've not tried any unlocking service so I can't provide any firm recommendations, only hearsay. Let us know which service finally works for you though.
That unlock-sony site seems to offer a refund if it doesn't work but there may be hassle involved in getting that refund.
