it should be a software disabling that can be re-activated by flashing a european version. no one knows because sony hasn't said. the 5G antenna should still be in there, but the question is whether the disabling is so low-level that flashing a euro firmware would not re-enable it.

First impressions are great! I am upgrading from Xperia 1. Solid device but does appear a little bigger (when it is not) than X1 because of flat frame to fit headphone jack. Fingerprint sensor seems more accurate than X1. I am missing album app, can anyone recommend a good substitute as I don't like Google photos? Another app missing is Movie Creator (not supported) which I will miss too. Super quick set up. I have 5G in my neighbourhood so I will be testing the speeds on that and have a good play around with the camera.
After all the years of hiding CE mark, this time it is printed on the back, albeit faint. Could have done without that.

fjcarlsson - GREAT TO HEAR! I love the album app as well. can you side load the APK or does it prevent you from even installing it? Look forward to your review on camera and such. congrats again!

try searching online for the apk or back it up from your xperia 1 and transfer it to your xperia 1ii to side load it. that is what i plan to do, so it would be nice to know if it works! i've used ES Explorer to backup my apps in the past, but there are other app utilities that do it.
ALSO:
for those in the United States - Amazon has finally added a listing for the 1ii that includes the ear buds. Good for those who enjoy Prime shipping and even better for those with an amazon credit card and can get 5% back!

aw man! that sucks. thanks for trying.
i just placed my preorder. black version as it's the only one available. would have liked white or even purple, oh well.
i placed my preorder through amazon and amazon is shipping the earbuds without the phone. so i will be receiving them tomorrow. strange, but i'll take it. i plan to sell them as I don't think I would use them much and whatever money I make off them will bring down the price of the phone.

Download MiXplorer and then MiX Signer add on for it. Once you do that, go to Album APK long press it and tap SIGN option. Now it should work just fine. Let us know. |

He says there is no night mode but that auto mode does a night scene type setting change that enhances dark areas. So not really a might mode. He just explored the auto mode more than the other guys I guess
@XPR - never heard of it. but quick google reviews a good majority of reviews are negative with a few positive ones thrown in. but you can't be too sure about those few positive ones. i would not trust it with this amount of money.
